Detailed Description of Boiler Plate Products
Boiler Plate is a special steel plate used for manufacturing boilers and pressure-bearing components. Its core characteristics are high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, good toughness and strong weldability. It implements the national standard GB 713 and is commonly divided into two categories: carbon steel and low alloy steel.
I. Execution Standards and Material Grades
National Standard (GB): Q245R, Q345R, Q370R, 15CrMoR, 12Cr1MoVR, 16MnDR, etc.
European Standard (EN): P265GH, P355GH, P355NH, etc.
American Standard (ASTM): SA515 Gr60/65/70, SA516 Gr60/65/70, SA387 Gr11/22, etc.
II. Core Chemical Composition (Typical)
Carbon Steel (e.g., Q245R): C≤0.20, Mn 0.50–0.90, Si 0.15–0.40, S≤0.015, P≤0.025.
Low Alloy Heat-Resistant Steel (e.g., 15CrMoR): C 0.12–0.18, Mn 0.40–0.70, Si 0.15–0.40, Cr 0.80–1.10, Mo 0.25–0.35.
III. Mechanical Properties (Room Temperature, Typical)
Yield Strength (ReH): 245–460 MPa (increases with grade).
Tensile Strength (Rm): 400–630 MPa.
Elongation After Fracture (A): ≥20%.
Impact Absorption Energy (Akv): ≥34 J (0℃), and low-temperature steel can reach ≥71 J (-20℃).
High-Temperature Strength: It maintains stable creep strength at 350–550℃, suitable for long-term pressure-bearing working conditions.
IV. Specifications and Dimensions
Thickness: 6–200 mm, commonly used 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 mm.
Width: 1500–3000 mm.
Length: 6000–12000 mm, customizable.
Dimension Tolerance: According to GB/T 709, the thickness tolerance is ±0.3–±0.8 mm (increases with thickness).
V. Manufacturing Process and Heat Treatment
Smelting: Electric furnace/converter + LF refining + vacuum degassing, pure steel quality and low impurities.
Rolling: Hot rolling/controlled rolling to ensure uniform structure and grain refinement.
Heat Treatment: Normalizing (N), Normalizing + Tempering (N+T), Quenching and Tempering (Q&T) to eliminate internal stress and improve toughness and high-temperature stability.
Flaw Detection: 100% UT (Ultrasonic Testing), in line with JB/T 4730.3, qualified at Grade I/II.
VI. Core Characteristics
High Temperature and High Pressure Stability: Carbon steel is used for medium and low pressure boilers (≤450℃); low alloy heat-resistant steel is used for high pressure/ultra-high pressure (500–600℃), with high creep resistance and long-term strength.
Excellent Toughness and Anti-Aging: Good low-temperature impact performance, and toughness does not decrease significantly after cold working or long-term service, preventing brittle fracture.
Good Weldability and Cold Bending Performance: Low carbon equivalent, low welding crack sensitivity; can be rolled, stamped and bent without cracks after forming.
Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to water vapor and flue gas corrosion; the surface can be derusted, painted or anti-corrosion treated.
VII. Application Scope
Boilers: Drum, steam drum, header, superheater, economizer, furnace tube, end cover, etc.
Pressure Vessels: Petroleum/chemical reactors, heat exchangers, separators, spherical tanks, oil and gas tanks, LNG storage tanks, nuclear power pressure vessels.
Power Stations/Energy: Main steam pipelines, high-pressure heaters, deaerators, water turbine volutes.

IX. Packaging, Marking and Delivery
Packaging: Bare bundle or galvanized steel strip bundling, surface coated with anti-rust oil or covered with waterproof paper.
Marking: Each plate is marked with furnace number, batch number, grade, specification, execution standard, flaw detection grade and manufacturer.
Delivery Status: Normalizing/Normalizing + Tempering/Quenching and Tempering, with quality certificate (including chemical composition, mechanical properties and flaw detection results).
Delivery Cycle: Spot supply for conventional specifications, delivery cycle is 5-7 days; delivery cycle for customized specifications shall be negotiated separately according to production progress.
X. Quality Control and Acceptance
Chemical Composition: Smelting analysis + finished product analysis, in line with GB 713.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile, impact and cold bending tests are sampled for each batch.
Surface Quality: No cracks, laminations, scars, scale, and surface roughness meets requirements.
Dimension Accuracy: Thickness, width and length tolerances meet GB/T 709.
