I. Overview

Aluminum Coated Mirror is one of the most widely used reflective elements in optical systems. By depositing a high-purity aluminum film on the surface of optical glass or other substrate materials, the excellent reflective properties of aluminum in the ultraviolet to infrared wavelength range are utilized to achieve efficient reflection of light.

2、 Working principle

The working principle of aluminum film as a reflective layer is based on the response of metal's free electrons to electromagnetic waves:

Ultraviolet region (200-400nm): Aluminum has the highest reflectivity among all metals (about 90%)

Visible light range (400-700nm): reflectivity of about 88-92%

Near infrared region (700-2000nm): maintain a reflectivity of over 90%

There is a low reflectance valley in the aluminum film near the wavelength of 800nm, which is due to the interband transition characteristics of aluminum.
