I. Product Overview
The EC-A2 Ultrasonic Anemometer is an upgraded alternative to traditional cup, vane, and propeller-type wind speed and direction sensors. Built on proven, highly successful ultrasonic technology, it is suitable for both land and marine environments. Unlike traditional fragile wind sensors, the EC-A2 is lightweight yet robustly constructed with high-strength materials, eliminating concerns about damage during installation and operation. Furthermore, it requires no costly on-site calibration or maintenance, and its corrosion-resistant outer surface makes it a truly "set-it-and-forget-it" device. The sensor features a flexible design with both digital and analog output capabilities.

III. Working Principle
The EC-A2 ultrasonic anemometer operates on the ultrasonic time-difference method to measure wind speed. The speed of sound in air is superimposed on the airflow velocity along the wind direction. If the ultrasonic wave propagates in the same direction as the wind, its speed increases; conversely, it decreases. Therefore, under fixed detection conditions, the propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in air corresponds to a function of wind speed. Accurate wind speed and direction can be obtained through calculation.
As the speed of sound waves in air is significantly affected by temperature, this anemometer detects two opposite directions on two channels, so the influence of temperature on the speed of sound waves can be neglected. It features light weight, no moving parts, sturdiness and durability, and requires no maintenance or on-site calibration. It can output both wind speed and direction values simultaneously.
Users can select wind speed units, output frequency and output format as required, and also choose the heating function if needed. It can be connected to a computer, data logger or other acquisition devices compatible with RS485 or analog output, and multiple units can form a network.
By effectively overcoming the inherent defects of mechanical anemometers, it can operate normally around the clock for a long time and is increasingly widely used, serving as a powerful alternative to mechanical anemometers.
