Processor performance: Equipped with a 25MHz MC68LC040 enhanced 32-bit microprocessor, featuring an 8KB cache and an MMU (Memory Management Unit). It can also be optionally equipped with a 25MHz MC68040 32-bit microprocessor, which has an additional FPU (Floating-point Unit) and can meet different computing requirements. It performs well in both integer and floating-point operations.

Memory configuration: Equipped with 1MB, 4MB or 8MB of parity protection DRAM, it can ensure the accuracy and reliability of data storage. It is equipped with 512KB SRAM at the same time and has a spare battery for preserving key data in case of power failure. It also features 1MB of flash memory, which can be used for on-board monitors, debuggers or user-installed firmware.

Interface type: Two serial ports are provided. One is EIA-232-D DCE, and the other can be configured as EIA-232-D or EIA-530 DCE/DTE for convenient connection to serial port devices. An optional SCSI bus interface with 32-bit local bus burst DMA is available for connecting storage devices, etc. It can also be optionally equipped with a local area network Ethernet transceiver interface with 32-bit local bus DMA (Intel 82596CA controller), facilitating access to the network for remote communication and control.

Timer function: It is equipped with six 32-bit timers, four of which do not come with VMEbus. There is also a programmable watchdog timer, which can be used for timing control, system monitoring, etc. When the system malfunctions, the watchdog timer can trigger reset and other operations to ensure the stable operation of the system.

VME bus characteristics: It adopts the VMEbus interface (VMEchip2), supporting data transmission from the local bus to the VMEbus/from the VMEbus to the local bus. The bus width is A16/A24/A32, D8/D16/D32 (D8/D16/D32/D64BLT). It has the function of a VME bus system controller and can be used as the master device or slave device in the VME bus system, facilitating communication and collaborative work with other VME bus modules.

Other features: Equipped with 8K×8 non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) and a daily time (TOD) clock with a spare battery, it can be used to store some configuration information that needs to be saved for a long time and record time, etc. It also has a JEDEC standard 32-pin PLCC EPROM socket, which can be used for expanding storage or installing specific firmware.

Application scenarios

Manufacturing production lines: such as automotive welding robot control, semiconductor wafer inspection equipment, and PCB circuit board processing machine tools, multi-axis motion control and sensor data acquisition are achieved by connecting I/O modules through the VME bus.

Process industry: Pressure monitoring of petrochemical pipelines, real-time temperature regulation of metallurgical furnaces, and aseptic environment control of pharmaceutical production lines. Serial ports are used to connect to PLCS (Programmable Logic Controllers) or DCS (Distributed Control Systems).

Power dispatching and substation automation: High-voltage transmission line protection devices and smart grid monitoring terminals are connected to the SCADA system through the Ethernet interface (Intel 82596CA) to achieve remote monitoring.

Energy production control: Parameter monitoring of oilfield drilling platforms, variable pitch control system of wind turbines, using SCSI interfaces to connect high-speed storage devices to record operation data.

Telecommunication base station controller: The baseband processing unit of 2G/3G base stations, the signal modulation module of satellite communication ground stations, and the storage device is connected through the SCSI interface to cache communication data.

Network security equipment: The packet forwarding engine of early firewalls, the control plane of industrial-grade routers, and the network interface card (NIC) extended through the VME bus.
