Triconex RXM4200 Remote expansion Module

The Triconex RXM4200 (Remote Expansion Module) is a remote expansion module in the Triconex safety control system under Schneider Electric. It is used to implement the distributed I/O architecture and supports placing the I/O module at the field position far away from the main controller. It is connected to the main controller through a redundant high-speed communication link.

Core function

Remote I/O connection

Support the deployment of Triconex I/O modules (such as the 3624 and 3700 series) in field cabinets far from the main controller, with a maximum expansion distance of several kilometers.

It is connected to the main controller (such as Tricon or TriStation) through redundant communication links (such as optical fibers or copper cables) to ensure the reliability of data transmission.

Triple redundant design

Adopting Triconex's signature triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture, each channel independently processes data and ensures output consistency through a voting mechanism, enhancing the system's fault tolerance.

Hot plugging and online maintenance

It supports hot-swappable function, allowing faulty modules to be replaced while the system is running, reducing downtime.

The built-in diagnostic function monitors the module status in real time and feeds back fault information through LED indicator lights or system software.

Modular scalability

Multiple RXM4200 modules can be cascaded to build a large-scale distributed I/O system, supporting up to 64 remote I/O racks.

Technical parameters

Parameter details

Communication interface - Redundant optical fiber interface (supporting single-mode/multi-mode)

Copper cable interface (optional)

Support the TCM (Triconex communication module) protocol

The I/O rack supports that each RXM4200 can be connected to 1 remote I/O rack, and each rack can accommodate up to 16 I/O modules at most.

Transmission distance - Optical fiber: Single-mode optical fiber can reach up to 20 kilometers, and multi-mode optical fiber can reach up to 2 kilometers

Copper cable: Depending on the specific model, it is usually 100-300m

Operating temperature: -20°C to + 60°C (industrial grade)

The power supply requirement is 24VDC (with redundant power supply support), and the typical power consumption is less than 15W

Certified explosion-proof certifications such as ATEX, IECEx, CSA, FM, etc. (Applicable to hazardous areas)

Application scenarios

Oil and gas: Remote wellhead control, pipeline monitoring, distributed I/O on offshore platforms.

Chemical industry: Remote equipment monitoring in hazardous areas (such as reactors, pump sets).

Power industry: Remote I/O expansion of auxiliary systems in power plants (such as cooling towers, coal conveying systems).

Rail transit: Remote monitoring and control of equipment along subways or railways.
