Working principle
Data processing: The MPC860 processor, as the core component, is based on a 32-bit architecture and processes the input data according to the instruction set. It can perform various operations such as arithmetic and logical operations. For instance, it can analyze, calculate and logically judge the digital quantity after analog-to-digital conversion of analog data from industrial field sensors. According to the preset control algorithm and program, it outputs corresponding control signals to achieve precise control of industrial equipment.
Data storage: The module is equipped with 16MB DRAM, 32KB SRAM and 6MB flash memory PROM. DRAM is used for temporarily storing intermediate data generated by the processor during operation and the program code being processed, etc. SRAM has battery backup and can be used to store some key data that needs to be retained after power failure, such as system configuration parameters, etc. Flash memory PROM is used to store firmware and long-term valid program code, etc. When the module starts up, it will read the boot program and other contents from the flash memory PROM and load them into the DRAM for operation.
Time management: The module is equipped with time and date locking functions, and the time count is maintained by the relevant circuit backed up by the battery. Even if the system is powered off, the time can still be counted. The typical drift is ±2 seconds per day, and the maximum drift is ±2.16 seconds per day. This can provide an accurate time reference for the system, which is very important for recording the occurrence time of events and achieving functions such as timing control.
Bus communication: Communicate with other modules via the Tribus bus at a rate of 25Mbps, featuring 32-bit CRC protection and 32-bit DMA, and complete isolation. This design can ensure the high-speed and reliable transmission of data between modules. Meanwhile, the isolation mechanism can effectively prevent signal interference and the spread of electrical faults, guaranteeing the stability of the system.
Serial communication: The module has a serial port for diagnostic analysis, providing an opto-isolated RS-232 interface on a 25-pin connector with an isolation voltage of 500VDC. External devices such as debugging computers can be connected through this interface for operations like module fault diagnosis, parameter setting and program download. The optical isolation design can enhance the anti-interference ability of communication.
System communication: Communication can be conducted via Ethernet with Tristation 1131, other Tricon or Trident controllers, Modbus master-slave devices, and external hosts through the Tricon communication module (TCM). It is only compatible with Tricon v10.0 and higher versions of the system, thereby enabling data exchange and collaborative work with other devices and systems, and allowing the entire industrial automation control system to operate in coordination.
Application case:
Petrochemical industry: In large-scale petroleum refining and chemical plants, the TRICONEX EPI3382 main processor module can be used to control and monitor parameters such as temperature, pressure and liquid level of the reaction vessel. It connects multiple sensors to collect data in real time and process it quickly. According to the preset process parameters and control logic, it precisely adjusts the feed rate, cooling water volume, etc., to ensure that the reaction process proceeds under safe and stable conditions. Meanwhile, the high reliability and fault-tolerant design of the module can effectively cope with complex environments such as high temperature, high pressure, flammability and explosiveness in the petrochemical production process. Even if some hardware malfunctions, it can ensure the continuous operation of the system and prevent accidents.
In the power industry, EPI3382 can be used as a core processing unit in substation automation systems. It is responsible for collecting various electrical parameters within the station, such as voltage, current, power, etc., as well as switch status information. Through the analysis and processing of these data, real-time monitoring and protection of substation equipment can be achieved. For instance, when an abnormal current is detected in a certain line, the module can promptly issue an alarm signal and control the corresponding switch action according to the preset strategy to cut off the faulty circuit and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power system. In addition, this module can also communicate with other devices in the power system to achieve data sharing and collaborative control, facilitating the construction and operation of the smart grid.
Natural gas transmission industry: It is applied in the quick-opening blind plate control system of China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau. This module is used to achieve functions such as intelligent judgment, remote monitoring, fault alarm and elimination of quick-opening blind plates. It connects various sensors and actuators to monitor the status of the quick-opening blind plate in real time, such as locking status and pressure conditions, and precisely controls the opening and closing of the blind plate according to operation instructions and safety logic, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of pipeline maintenance and repair work during the natural gas transmission process.
Chemical new materials production industry: When China National Petroleum Corporation Dushanzi Petrochemical establishes the product carbon footprint optimization model, it may use relevant control systems. Among them, the TRICONEX EPI3382 main processor module can participate in the data processing and control links. It collects and analyzes data such as energy consumption and raw material usage during the production process, providing accurate data support for carbon footprint calculation.
