Calcium Chloride
Calcium chloride (chemical formula: CaCl2) is a white or slightly yellow solid inorganic compound. It belongs to the salt family and is a typical ionic halide. It is widely used in many fields due to its high solubility, hygroscopicity and dehydration. It exists in different physical forms according to its hydration form. The most common is dihydrate (CaCl2·2H2O). Its high solubility enables it to dissolve quickly in water and release a large amount of heat, making it very useful in applications that require rapid heating or drying. In addition, calcium chloride is also commonly used in brine used in refrigeration equipment, road deicing agents and desiccants.
