Etidronic acid is an organic compound with the molecular formula C2H8O7P2 and a molecular weight of 206.03. It is a white crystalline particle and a colorless to light yellow liquid when dissolved in water. This product is easily soluble in water, methanol and ethanol. It has a large dissociation constant in water and can form a stable complex with metal ions. It can form a stable adduct with compounds containing active oxygen to keep the active oxygen stable. It has low toxicity.
It is mainly used as a scale inhibitor and corrosion inhibitor for boilers and heat exchangers, a complexing agent for cyanide-free electroplating, a chelating agent for soap, and a cleaning agent for metals and non-metals.
