Sodium Hypochlorite
Sodium hypochlorite, with the chemical formula NaClO (common writing) or NaOCl (electronic writing), is a common and widely used hypochlorite that is easily soluble in water. Because it has strong oxidizing properties in an acidic environment, it is commonly used in the production of bleach or disinfectants in washing products (the main component of 84 disinfectant is sodium hypochlorite). It can also be used in sewage treatment (purification), sterilization, dyeing and weaving. Sodium hypochlorite is unstable and easily decomposed by light or heat. Therefore, it mostly exists in the form of solution in daily life and industrial production. Although solids can be produced in theory, they are generally more common in laboratories. At present, the production methods of sodium hypochlorite include electrolysis and caustic soda chlorination.
