German Technical Background VOK-190 Wetting Dispersant It Can Increase the Content of Pigment Replaces BYK-190
German technical background VOK ®- Disper 190 Wetting Dispersant
VOK ®- Disper 190 is a VOC and solvent free wetting and dispersing agent used in water-based paint systems, printing inks and adhesives. It is a standard additive for resin free pigment concentrate. Suitable for all kinds of pigments.
Product Information
Chemical composition
Modified styrene maleic acid copolymer solution
Typical Physicochemical Data
The data given in this data page are only typical values, not technical indicators of the product.
Acid value: 10 mg KOH/g
Density (20 ° C): 1.06 g/ml
Non volatile matter (10 minutes, 150 ° C): 40%
Solvent: water
Storage and transportation
When stored or transported at temperatures below 0 ° C, stratification or turbidity may occur. Heat to 20 ° C and mix before use.
Application field
Printing ink
Features and Benefits
The additive can deflocculate the pigment by stabilizing the steric hindrance. Because the particle size of the deflocculating pigment is small, it can obtain high gloss and improve color intensity. In addition, the transparency of transparent pigments and the hiding power of opaque pigments are also improved. Due to the reduction of viscosity, the flowability is improved and the content of pigment can be increased.
Recommended use
The additive is especially suitable for the production of stable resin free pigment slurry, with pigment content of 30-60%. These pigment concentrates can be used for preparing paints with standard water-based binders, such as acrylic dispersions or water-soluble acrylic resins.
Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Titanium dioxide: 10-12%
Organic pigment, carbon black: 15-50%
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
Adding method and processing guidance
Grinding can only be carried out in water (without resin, amine and cosolvent). Mix the auxiliary agent with water, and then add the pigment after the auxiliary agent is fully dispersed and uniform.

Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Inorganic pigment: 20-30%
Titanium dioxide: 10-12%
Organic pigment: 30-75%
Carbon black: more than 130-150% of the recommended amount is for reference, and the appropriate amount needs to be determined through a series of tests.

an adhesive
Features and Benefits
The additive can improve the dispersion quality of the pigment and filler, and it can make the pigment and filler deflocculate by stabilizing the steric hindrance. Due to the reduction of viscosity, the flowability is improved, and the addition amount of pigment can be increased.
Recommended use
Water based adhesive
Epoxy system
Polyurethane system
The additive is especially recommended for dispersing pigments and fillers in resin free water.
Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Inorganic pigment: 20-30%
Titanium dioxide: 10-12%
