German technical background VOK ®- Disper 162 Wetting Dispersant
VOK ®- Disper 162 Wetting dispersant for solvent based coatings and pigment concentrates. It is especially suitable for stabilizing carbon black and organic pigments, especially two-component polyurethane wood and furniture coatings.

Special attention
The surface treatment of some organic pigments will adversely affect the effectiveness of the wetting and dispersing agent. In this case, the same type of untreated pigment can be used. When used in coil coatings, the interaction between the cationic promoter and acid catalyst must be considered. Free acid or epoxy blocked acid is more suitable than amine blocked acid. This problem can be solved by using VOK ®- Disper 170 series.

Features and Benefits
The high molecular weight additive can deflocculate and stabilize the pigment through space steric hindrance. VOK ®- Disper 162 provides the same charge to the pigment particles. The resulting repulsive force and steric stability can effectively avoid possible co flocculation, so that the multi pigment system will not produce floating color and blooming. The deflocculating property of the additive can increase the luster, color strength, transparency and hiding power of the coating, and reduce the viscosity of the abrasive.

The additive is mainly used for wood coatings and pigment concentrated pulp.

Additive dosage (purchase form) is based on pigment:
Inorganic pigment: 12-20%
Titanium dioxide: 5-6%
Organic pigment: 25-85%
Carbon black: 60-120%
The above data are empirical dosage, and good dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
Addition method and processing guidance
In order to obtain good performance, additives shall be added to the grinding material first, and then the pigment shall be added. First, premix the resin and solvent components of the abrasive, and then slowly add additives under constant stirring. Pigments shall not be added before the additives are uniformly mixed.
