VOK ®- Disper 163 Wetting dispersant for solvent based coatings and pigment concentrates. It can stabilize various pigments. It has wide compatibility and is suitable for solvent based general pigment concentrate with aldehyde or acrylic resin as grinding resin.

Storage and transportation

When the temperature is lower than 0 ° C, stratification or turbidity may occur. Heat to 20 ° C and mix thoroughly.

Special attention

The surface treatment of some organic pigments will adversely affect the effectiveness of the wetting and dispersing agent. In this case, the same type of untreated pigment can be used. When used in coil coatings, the interaction between the cationic promoter and acid catalyst must be considered. Free acid or epoxy blocked acid is more suitable than amine blocked acid. This problem can be solved by using VOK ®- Disper 170 series.

Features and Benefits

The high molecular weight additive can deflocculate and stabilize the pigment through space steric hindrance. VOK ®- Disper 163 provides the same charge to the pigment particles. The resulting repulsive force and steric stability can effectively avoid possible co flocculation, so that the multi pigment system will not produce floating color and blooming. The deflocculating property of the additive can increase the luster, color strength, transparency and hiding power of the coating, and reduce the viscosity of the abrasive.

Recommended Applications

VOK ®- Disper 163 has a wide range of compatibility and can be used in a variety of solvent based formulations. It can also be used for later remediation of problematic coatings. For some new applications, it is recommended to use newer additives such as VOK ®- Dispatch 2163 and VOK ®- Disper 2164。 

Recommended dosage

Additive dosage (purchase form) is based on pigment:

Inorganic pigment: 15-20%

Titanium dioxide: 4-5%

Organic pigment: 30-60%

Carbon black: 80-100%

The above data are empirical dosage, and good dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.

Addition method and processing guidance

In order to obtain good performance, additives shall be added to the grinding material first, and then the pigment shall be added. First, premix the resin and solvent components of the abrasive, and then slowly add additives under constant stirring. Pigments shall not be added before the additives are uniformly mixed. The paint in question can be remedied by post addition. At this time, it needs to be added slowly under the condition of high shear force.
