German technical background VOK®-420 rheology additive

Sensitive to moisture. Slight turbidity during storage does not affect the rheological effect.
Special tip
VOK®-410 is especially recommended for medium-level systems and VOK®-411 for low-level systems.

Features and characteristics
After stirring and adding water-based coatings, the additives can form a three-dimensional network structure. This results in thixotropic flow properties as well as settling prevention and improved anti-sagging pendants. Fluid additives, easy to use, no need to control pH or temperature.
Recommended apps
VOK®-420 is ideal for anti-settling of water-based pigment pastes and matting pastes. Excellent shear thinning properties are suitable for this. It is also suitable for controlling thixotropic flow behavior, which can improve sagging resistance and leveling.
Recommended dosage
0.3-1.5% additives (purchased form) are based on total formulation and are used for anti-settling.

The above recommended dosage can be used as a starting point for the experiment. Good dosage needs to be determined through a series of experiments.
Add methods and processes
Adding at the grinding stage can achieve good scores and results. No special control of temperature and pH is required. It can also be added at the mixing stage to adjust the viscosity. If the post-addition distribution is uneven, compatibility can be improved by co-solvents.
Special tip
The additive contains chloride ions, it is recommended to use plastic or contain inner land packaging barrels to store finished paint to avoid corrosion; If metal drums are used, dispersion needs to be tested. In dry films, no negative effects on corrosion were found.
