EN 13163Factory Made Expanded Polystyrene(EPS)products—CE Certification

In the Eu market, the "CE" mark is a mandatory certification mark to show that the product meets the basic requirements of the EU directive "New Method for Technical Harmonization and Standardization". This is a mandatory requirement for products under EU law.

CE marking on polystyrene(EPS) not only proves that the product complies with the construction Products Directive (CPR 305/2011/EU) and related standards (Harmonized European Standard EN 13162) for safety, environmental protection, health and consumer protection. Moreover, it can reasonably avoid technical barriers to trade, sell freely in the European market and open up other international markets.

Note: The Construction Product Directive (CPD) 106/89/EEC replaces the Construction Product Directive (CPD).And it will be mandatory from July 1, 2013

EN 13163 polystyrene(EPS) CE certification— scope

This European Standard specifies the requirements for factory made expanded polystyrene products, with orwithout rigid or flexible facings or coatings, which are used for the thermal insulation of buildings. The productsare manufactured in the form of boards or rolls or other preformed ware (flat, tapered, tongue and grooves,shiplap,profiled etc.).

Products covered by this standard are also used for sound insulation and in prefabricated thermal insulationsystems and composite panels; the performance of systems incorporating these products is not covered.

This standard describes product characteristics and includes procedures for testing, evaluation of conformity,marking and labelling.

This standard does not specify the required class or level of a given property to be achieved by a product todemonstrate fitness for purpose in a particular application. The classes and levels required for a givenapplication are to be found in regulations or non-conflicting standards.

Products with a declared thermal resistance lower than 0,25 m2KW or a declared thermal conductivity at 10 Cgreater than 0,060 WK(m·K) are not covered by this standard.

This standard does not cover in-situ insulation products (covered byFprEN 16025-1 and -2), products intendedto be used for the insulation of building equipment and industrial installations (covered byEN 14309), productsintended to be used in civil engineering applications (covered by EN 14933) and products intended to be used inbeam and block systems in floors (covered by EN 15037-4).

CE certification process of polystyrene(EPS):

1. Determine the type of products to be certified and submit the application

2. Confirm the European Product Directive, polystyrene(EPS)must comply with the new EU building Products regulation CPR 305/2011/EU

3. Determine the European harmonized standard, polystyrene(EPS) must comply with harmonized standard EN 13163

4, according to the CPR directive and harmonized standard EN 13163 for the evaluation of the test, the European Union certification body in accordance with the certification system 3 test certification

5. Obtain the test report and certificate issued by the European Union announcement body

6. Declaration of Performance

7, in the product packaging with the announcement of the organization code CE mark
