Disc separator is one of kind of settling centrifuge, which use centrifugal force to accelerate separating process. It is widely used in processing of starch to separate protein and cell liquid out of slurry. It also can be used for enrichment and purification of starch slurry.
The structure of disc separator
The disc separator is mainly composed of a feed inlet, a transmission device, a disc stack, a centrifugal drum, and a discharge outlet.
The working principle of disc separator
The disc separator uses the high centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of the equipment to accelerate the sedimentation, and then produce the separation effect. The starch milk enters the centrifugal drum and enters the disc stack along the channel. The centrifugal drum is driven by a motor through a transmission device to rotate at a high speed to generate centrifugal force.
Because the specific gravity of the material is different, the centrifugal force produced is also different. The heavy solid matter settles on the drum wall under the action of centrifugal force and is discharged out of the drum, while the light liquid is discharged out of the drum through the liquid outlet.
