  Water is the important component in the cosmetics. The standards of water for cosmetics will affect the security, reliability and quality of cosmetics directly.   I. The requirements of water for manufacturing cosmetics:

  Water is the important component in the cosmetics. The standards of water for cosmetics will affect the security, reliability and quality of cosmetics directly. Our company can provide the 0.5-100T/H water for cosmetics.

  II. The two main requirements of water for cosmetics:

  1. Inorganic ion density

  Water for cosmetics should be removed the inorganic ions, in order to meet the requirements of pure water, get the salt content below 1mg/L, that is to say, the electric conductivity should be reduced to 1~5μS/cm2.

  2. Pollution of microorganism

  According to the hygienic standards for cosmetics: the total bacteria number of common cosmetics should be less than or equal to 1000pcs/ml or 1000pcs/g; but the total bacteria number of cosmetics for ocular, lips, mouth mucosa, babies and cosmetics for children should be less than or equal to 500pcs/ml or 500pcs/g, furthermore, there should be no fecal coliform, pseudomonas aeruginosa and staphylococcus aureus.

  III. Removal of ions in the water

  1. Ion exchange method

  Use cation to change resin to remove the cation in the water and then release the hydrion;

  Use anion to change resin ti remove the anion in the water and then release the hydroxyl ion;

  The released hygrion and hydroxyl ion combine then become the water, there the ion is removed.

  Generally speaking, cation and anion exchanger can not remove the ions in the water thoroughly, we should add a mixed ion exchanger in the back to remove the residual ions in order to meet the requirements of water for cosmetics.

  When the resin is exhausted, it need acid-base regeneration.

  2. Reverse osmosis method

  The definition of reverse osmosis is: use enough pressure to push the solvent in the solution(generally, it is water) get through the reverse osmosis membrane(or semi-permeable membrane), flow from solution side to solvent side, then the solvent is separated, because this process is opposite to the natural osmosis, we call it reverse osmosis.

  Advantages of reverse osmosis technology:

  1. No need of heat, no phase-change;

  2. Low consumption;

  3. Small volume, simple operation, strong adaptability;

  4. No pollution to environment

  Reverse osmosis pure water system adopts different technologies, according to different source water quality. Generally speaking, tap water is treated by first-stage reverse osmosis, the output electric conductivity <10μS/cm, after second-stage reverse osmosis, the output electric conductivity is <5μS/cm and even more lower than it. We usually install the mixed ion exchange or EDI equipment after first-stage reverse osmosis, which can guarantee the water for cosmetics can meet the requirements of deionized water.

  EDI system can replace the mixed bed to serve as the desalinization system after reverse osmosis, this method can replace the traditional mixed ion exchange technology to produce the stable deionized water. Compared with mixed ion exchange technology, EDI technology has the following advantages:

  1. Stable water quality

  2. Easy to realize full-automatic control

  3. It won’t stop by regeneration

  4. No need of chemical regeneration

  5. Low operation cost

  6. Small workshop

  7. No discharge of sewage

  The main shortcoming is the higher investment cost.

  3. Ultraviolet disinfection

  Principle of UV sterilization: ultraviolet radioactivity will affect the DNA and RNA of bacteria membrane.

  4. Micropore membrane filtration

  Use the 0.22um microfiltration membrane to sterilize, generally, we use the three methods together.

  IV. Sterilization and disinfection of water for manufacturing cosmetics

  1. Chemical treatment

  Use the salty water to empty the bacteria

  2. Heat treatment

  3. Sterilization by heating in the reaction vessel

  4. Ultra high temperature to sterilize in the short time(abbreviation UHST)
