Product Overview
A rotary drum dryer is a large-scale industrial drying machine designed for continuous, high-volume processing of bulk materials with high moisture content. It is a central piece of equipment in industries such as mining (for ores, concentrates, slags), construction (for sand, gravel, clay), agriculture (for feed, fertilizer), and chemical processing. Its core function is to efficiently reduce the moisture of materials through direct or indirect heat transfer within a rotating cylindrical drum.
Working Principle
Wet material is fed into one end of a slightly inclined, rotating cylinder. As the drum rotates, internal lifting flights (or fins) pick up the material and shower it through a stream of hot gas (typically air or combustion gases), maximizing the surface area for heat exchange. The material travels slowly from the feed end to the discharge end due to gravity and the drum's incline. The hot gas, flowing either co-currently or counter-currently to the material, evaporates the moisture. The dried product is discharged at the opposite end, while the moist exhaust gas is treated and released through a dust collection system.
