1. Product Overview

Silicon steel, also named electrical steel or silicon steel lamination, is special soft magnetic alloy steel with silicon element added, carbon content below 0.08% and silicon content from 1.0% to 4.5%. It features low core loss, high magnetic permeability, low coercivity and high resistivity, which is the core raw material for iron cores of motors, transformers, generators and new energy electronic control equipment.

We supply two main types: cold rolled non-oriented silicon steel and cold rolled grain-oriented silicon steel, available in coils, cut-to-length sheets, slit strips and stamped semi-finished laminations. Sufficient spot stock is ready, delivery cycle: 5-7 days, shipped from Tianjin Port, widely exported to Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Europe and Middle East for power, new energy, home appliance and industrial motor industries.

2. Product Classification, Process & Characteristics

2.1 Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Silicon Steel (For Motors)

Standard: GB/T 2521-2021, IEC 60404

  • Silicon content: 1.5%~3.0%, randomly distributed grains with balanced magnetic performance in all directions, suitable for rotating magnetic field.

  • Standard thickness: 0.35mm, 0.50mm; ultra-thin new energy grades: 0.20/0.27/0.30mm

  • Standard width: 1000mm, 1200mm, 1250mm, custom slitting width available

  • Surface: Uniform insulating phosphate coating for interlayer isolation and anti-peeling during stamping

  • Advantages: Excellent stamping performance, tiny burrs, high lamination factor and good mechanical toughness, compatible with high-speed automatic stamping lines

  • Main grades: 50WW800, 50WW600, 50WW470, 35WW300, 30WW230

  • Applications: Household appliance motors, industrial water pump & fan motors, new energy vehicle drive motors, wind power generators, power tools, servo motors and small reactors

2.2 Cold Rolled Grain-Oriented Silicon Steel (For Transformers)

Standard: GB/T 2521-2021, ASTM A876

  • Silicon content ≥3.0%, grains aligned along rolling direction. Core loss along rolling direction is only 1/3 of transverse direction, with ultra-high magnetic flux density and low loss.

  • Standard thickness: 0.23mm, 0.27mm, 0.30mm, 0.35mm

  • Two subcategories: Conventional Grain Oriented (CGO), High-B Flux Hi-B (laser domain refined for extra low loss)

  • Main grades: 30Q120, 30Q130, 27Q110, 23Q090, M270, M300

  • Advantages: Energy-saving, low noise, stable magnetic performance without attenuation during long-term operation, reduce transformer volume and weight

  • Applications: Power distribution transformers, dry-type transformers, high voltage main transformers, current/voltage transformers, inverters, charging pile reactors and intermediate frequency power supplies

2.3 Hot Rolled Silicon Steel (Economical Grade)

Thickness 0.35~0.50mm, low cost with relatively high core loss, only used for small low-voltage old transformers and simple electromagnetic components with limited spot supply.
