Product Spotlights
ZG40Cr25Ni20 (2520) high-temperature centrifugal cast furnace tube
ZG40Cr25Ni20 is the most widely used medium-to-high-end austenitic heat-resistant cast steel furnace tube in the market, commonly referred to as 2520 in the industry. It relies on a 25 chromium 20 nickel matrix to achieve excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance and thermal cycling resistance, and is widely used in various industrial high-temperature furnaces operating at 1100~1150℃.
1. Grade and basic description
The national standard follows GB/T 8492-2014, corresponding to the American standard HK40 cast pipe. The matrix is single-phase austenite, non-magnetic, and exhibits no high-temperature phase transformation, demonstrating strong stability under thermal cycling.
The conventional types are divided into ZG35Cr25Ni20Si2 and ZG40Cr25Ni20Si2. ZG40 has a higher carbon content, better casting fluidity, and slightly higher high-temperature creep strength, making it more suitable for pressure-bearing and heavy-duty furnace tubes.
II. Chemical Composition (mass fraction)
C: 0.35~0.45%, enhancing high-temperature strength and casting fluidity
Cr: 24.0~27.0%, forming a dense oxide layer, resistant to oxidation and sulfidation
Ni: 19.0~22.0%, stable austenite, enhancing high-temperature toughness and thermal shock resistance
Si: 1.5~2.5%, enhances the adhesion of oxide film and reduces peeling at high temperatures
Mn≤1.5%, S≤0.03%, P≤0.04%, balance Fe
III. Applicable temperature conditions
Long-term continuous use: 1100~1150℃
Short-term peak withstand temperature: 1250℃
Applicable atmosphere: air, combustion flue gas, weak sulfidizing atmosphere, weak carburizing environment; long-term continuous operation under strong carburizing conditions is not recommended.
IV. Mechanical properties (solution treated and water cooled delivery)
Room temperature tensile strength ≥550MPa
Room temperature yield strength ≥ 240MPa
Elongation rate ≥ 18%, reduction of area ≥ 20%
Hardness HB180~220
It has sufficient high-temperature endurance strength at 1100℃ and is not prone to bending or sagging under long-term conventional pressure.
V. Manufacturing Process (Centrifugal Casting of Pipes)
Centrifugal casting in a water-cooled metal mold utilizes centrifugal force to produce a dense and uniform structure in the pipe wall, eliminating defects such as sand holes and internal shrinkage porosity. As a result, the lifespan of the pipe is significantly longer than that of sand-cast pipes.
Heat treatment: Heat to 1100-1150℃, maintain the temperature for 3-5 hours, then quickly perform water cooling for solid solution treatment to eliminate casting stress, dissolve coarse carbides, and ensure toughness.
Finished product processing: Sandblast the outer wall to remove oxide scale, and machine the grooves on both ends for on-site welding and splicing.
Common Specifications
Outer diameter: φ60~800mm, wall thickness: 10~40mm, single length: 3~6m. Customized segmented welding is available for extra-long lengths.
VI. Main application scenarios of high-temperature furnace tubes
Heat treatment furnaces: trolley furnaces, box furnaces, roller hearth annealing furnaces with radiant tubes, furnace bottom roller tubes, hot air circulation ducts
Metallurgical heating furnace: radiant tube of billet heating furnace, flue tube, lining tube of soaking pit
Building material kilns: cement preheating tubes, high-temperature lime flues, glass kiln conveyor sleeves
Environmental protection equipment: high-temperature flue in garbage incineration, heat-absorbing casing of waste heat boiler
VII. Core Advantages and Disadvantages
advantage
Within 1150℃, it exhibits balanced oxidation resistance and resistance to thermal cycling, making it less prone to cracking and peeling during frequent start-ups and shutdowns, and highly versatile;
Excellent welding performance, matched with dedicated 2520 welding materials, facilitating convenient on-site maintenance and splicing;
Compared to 2535Nb and 2848W5, it has moderate cost and high comprehensive cost-effectiveness;
Centrifugally cast tube walls are dense and exhibit good resistance to erosion from high-temperature media and corrosion from flue gas.
shortcoming
Due to insufficient resistance to strong carburization, 2535Nb is preferred for continuous carburizing furnaces;
Creep deformation intensifies during long-term operation at temperatures above 1150℃, making it unsuitable for continuous high-temperature conditions at 1200℃;
The cost is higher than that of economical furnace tubes made of chromium-manganese-nitrogen and 247SiN.
