1.Product Introduction

The flotation machine is a key piece of equipment in mineral processing, used to separate and concentrate target minerals through the flotation process. Its core function involves introducing air into the pulp to generate bubbles. By exploiting differences in the physicochemical properties of mineral surfaces, useful minerals selectively adhere to the bubbles and float to the pulp surface, forming a froth layer that separates them from gangue. Modern flotation machines have evolved into various types, such as mechanically stirred, air-injected, and combined models, to accommodate different mineral characteristics and processing plant scales.

 

2.Application

  • Flotation machines are widely used in the separation of non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, and non-metallic minerals. Specific minerals processed include copper, lead, zinc, nickel, molybdenum, gold, iron, sulfur, bauxite, apatite, potash, cobalt, and spodumene. The process stages encompass roughing, scavenging, and reverse flotation.

  • Additionally, specialized models address specific requirements. For instance, the YX flash flotation machine primarily recovers precious metals from grinding and classification circuits, preventing over-grinding while enhancing recovery rates. The HIF series of ultra-large intelligent flotation machines, meanwhile, meets the demands of large-scale mineral processing plants handling over 100,000 tons per day.

 

3.Working Principle

The fundamental operating principle of a flotation machine involves generating numerous bubbles within the pulp through mechanical agitation or external aeration. Target mineral particles selectively adhere to these bubbles due to their surface properties, rising to the pulp surface with the bubbles to form a mineral-rich froth layer. This layer is then skimmed off as concentrate. Unattached gangue particles remain in the pulp and are discharged as tailings, thereby achieving separation.
