Boiler plate is a special steel plate used for manufacturing high-temperature and high-pressure bearing components such as boilers, pressure vessels, steam boiler drums, and heat exchangers. It features excellent high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, good toughness and superior weldability. Complying with the national standard GB 713-2014, it is widely applied in electric power, chemical industry, energy, metallurgy and other fields.

1. Executive Standards & Core Grades

1.1 Core Executive Standards

- National Standard: GB 713-2014 (Steel plates for boiler and pressure vessels, replacing the old version GB 713-2008)

- International Standards: ASME SA516, SA387, EN 10028, JIS G3115, etc.

1.2 Common Grades (Classified by Material)

1.2.1 Carbon Steel Boiler Plate (Medium and Low Pressure Working Condition, ≤450℃)

- Q245R (Old grade: 20G): The most commonly used grade with a carbon content of approximately 0.20% and yield strength ≥245MPa. Applied to low-pressure boiler drums and vessel shells.

- Q345R (Old grade: 16MnR): Low-alloy high-strength steel with yield strength ≥345MPa, suitable for medium-pressure boilers, heat exchangers and storage tanks.

- Q370R: High-strength low-alloy steel with excellent toughness and weldability, applicable to medium and high-pressure vessels.

1.2.2 Low-Alloy Heat-Resistant Steel Boiler Plate (High Temperature & High Pressure, 450-550℃)

- 15CrMoR: Contains Cr and Mo elements with good creep resistance, used for high-temperature steam pipelines, headers and high-pressure boiler drums.

- 12Cr1MoVR: Superior heat resistance, capable of long-term service at ≤580℃, applied to ultra-high pressure boilers and power station boiler superheaters.

- 13MnNiMoR/18MnMoNbR: High strength and high toughness, designed for large-scale power station boilers and thick-walled pressure vessels.

2. Dimension Specifications & Delivery Status

2.1 Dimension Range (Customizable)

- Thickness: 6-120mm (Common sizes: 8/10/12/16/20/25/30/50mm)

- Width: 1500-4500mm (Common sizes: 1800/2000/2200/2500mm)

- Length: 2000-12000mm (Custom fixed length / multiple length available)

- Tolerance: Thickness tolerance ±0.5-1.2mm, compliant with GB/T 709.

2.2 Delivery Status (Core Process Determining Performance)

- Normalizing (N): The most common process, refining grain structure and improving toughness, applicable to Q245R, Q345R and 15CrMoR.

- Hot Rolling (HR): Cost-effective, used for low-pressure thin plates with thickness ≤16mm.

- Thermo-Mechanical Control Process (TMCP): Low-temperature rolling process with high strength and good toughness, suitable for high-strength grades such as Q370R and 13MnNiMoR.

- Normalizing + Tempering (N+T): Eliminates internal stress and improves high-temperature stability, applied to high-alloy grades including 12Cr1MoVR.

- Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Mandatory ultrasonic testing with optional Grade I/II/III, compliant with GB/T 2970.

5. Core Characteristics

1. High Temperature Resistance: Carbon steel adapts to temperatures ≤450℃, and low-alloy heat-resistant steel applies to 450-580℃, maintaining stable strength and excellent creep resistance under long-term high-temperature service.

2. High Pressure Resistance: High yield strength ensures strong pressure-bearing capacity, suitable for working pressure ranging from 10MPa to 30MPa.

3. High Toughness: The low-temperature impact energy at -20℃ is ≥34J, effectively preventing low-temperature brittle fracture and adapting to ambient temperature fluctuations.

4. Excellent Weldability: Low carbon equivalent reduces welding crack sensitivity, compatible with arc welding, submerged arc welding and other welding processes.

5. Aging Resistance: Extremely low impurity content (P, S ≤0.025%) avoids aging embrittlement during long-term service.

6. Application Scope

- Electric Power Industry: Power station boiler drums, superheaters, headers, main steam pipelines, high-pressure heaters.

- Chemical Industry: Hydrogenation reactors, ammonia synthesis towers, heat exchangers, storage tanks, high-temperature and high-pressure pipelines.

- Energy Industry: Oilfield steam boilers, LPG storage tanks, pressure-bearing components of nuclear energy equipment.

- Metallurgical Industry: Heating furnaces, waste heat boilers, blast furnace hot blast stoves, pressure vessels.

7. Quality Assurance & Packaging

7.1 Quality Inspection

- Official material test certificate will be provided for each batch, including furnace batch number, chemical composition, mechanical properties and ultrasonic test results.

- Full-piece ultrasonic testing (UT) is performed in accordance with GB/T 2970 to ensure no defects such as delamination, inclusions and cracks.

- Surface quality: No serious oxide scale, rust, scratches or indentations; surface roughness ≤25μm.

7.2 Packaging Method

- Steel plates are coated with anti-rust oil, covered with waterproof plastic films and firmly bundled with steel strips.

- Clear marking: Grade, specification, furnace batch number, production date and executive standard are marked for full traceability.

- Transportation: Truck and sea transportation are available with anti-collision and moisture-proof measures, delivering to designated ports (Tianjin / Qingdao / Shanghai).

8. Delivery Cycle

- Stock Products: Sufficient inventory for conventional specifications (8-50mm), delivery within 7 days.

-Custom Products: Special thickness (≥60mm) and custom fixed-length plates, delivery in 15-20 days.
