The effect of chlorine dioxide in killing Escherichia coli is not greatly affected even when the pH range of the medium changes significantly. For the medium containing Escherichia coli with a residual chlorine of less than 0.5 mg/L. When the pH is 6.5, both chlorine dioxide and chlorine gas can remove 99% of Escherichia coli within 60 seconds. However, when the pH is 8, chlorine dioxide only takes 15 seconds, while chlorine gas takes 5 minutes to achieve the same effect.
