Product Uses
GB 2760 - 2007 stipulates it as a thickener. It can be used in gum - base candies, with a limit of 10.0g/kg. The xylitol chewing gum prepared with funoran gum, calcium hydrogen phosphate, and xylitol has a good function of protecting tooth enamel.
It is a kind of colloid obtained by extracting the annual seaweeds Gloiopeltis furcata and Gloiopeltis tenax of the Rhodophyta phylum with water. Originally, it was mainly used in the textile industry to make "Xiangyunsha", and it can also be used for food. This algae is mainly distributed in the temperate waters of the North Pacific. It is widely distributed along the coast of China and also produced in Japan and other places. Locally, this algae is called "Chicai" and "Jiaolai", and can be used for cold - mixed dishes.
Gloiopeltis is a genus of the Rhodophyta phylum. The plant body is upright, with somewhat irregular dichotomous branches, cylindrical or flattened, and the internal tissue is loose or hollow; tetrasporangia are scattered in the cortex and divide in a cruciate shape; cystocarps are spherical or hemispherical, protruding from the body surface and densely distributed on the algal body. There are 7 species in this genus, all of which are marine - living, distributed in the temperate waters along the North Pacific coast or slightly extending north and south. There are two species in China: Gloiopeltis furcata, purplish - red, 4 - 10 cm high, up to 15 cm; it grows on rocks in the high and middle intertidal zones and is produced along the coast. Gloiopeltis tenax is similar in external form to Gloiopeltis furcata, but the branch tips are more pointed, and the terminal branches are often bent like antlers. It grows on rocks in the middle and low intertidal zones and is produced in the East China Sea and along the mainland coast of Guangdong Province.
