1. Control products:
There are currently 24 categories of products regulated by NRCS regulations:
Handheld electric tools: electric tools, etc.
Household products: refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, lighting fixtures, LED lights, ballasts, etc.
Information technology products: computers, printers, monitors, etc
Wire and cable.
Electronic entertainment: television, sound system, etc.
Other products: chargers, power adapters, children's toys, strollers, etc.
There are three types of NRCS certification:
LOA certificate is also an authorization letter; The LOA is valid for 3 years and can be renewed before expiration.
Compliance certificate RCC. This certificate is applicable to fixed use wires and related products.
Authorization certificate. This certificate requires a specialized committee to issue and is applicable to fixed site wiring products outside the scope of RCC coverage. This certificate is mostly applicable to large industrial equipment.
3. Precautions:
The applicant for NRCS certification must be a local South African company, otherwise registration is required. Non South African companies can also apply through South African agents.
Applicants need to submit application materials, including LOA application form and qualified test reports and technical documents issued by NRCS accredited laboratories.
NRCS conducts an audit evaluation and issues an LOA certificate upon approval.
