EU Toy Regulations Updated! CE-EN71 Certification Updated
EU Toy Regulations Updated for 2025! CE-EN71 Certification Updated🚨
At the end of February 2025, the EU toy CE-EN71 certification testing standards have been updated!
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has released three new standards covering formamide, flame retardants, and preservatives testing. Attention to toy exporters to the EU!
🌟 Three New Standards:
1️⃣ EN71-15:2025: Testing for formamide content in foamed toy materials, limit 200 mg/kg.
2️⃣ EN71-16:2025: Testing for chlorinated phosphorus flame retardants (TCEP, TCPP, TDCP) in materials.
3️⃣ EN71-17:2025: Testing for isothiazolinone preservatives (MIT, CIT, BIT) in water-based materials.
📅 Implementation Timeline:
By the end of August 2025, all member states must replace conflicting national standards.
The new standards are expected to become the harmonized standard for Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
🎯 Scope of Application:
Toys intended for use by children under 36 months of age.
Other toys intended for use in the mouth.
⚠ Important Reminder:
Foaming materials with a formamide content exceeding 200 mg/kg will be subject to emission restrictions!
Toy manufacturers exporting to the EU must adjust their products in advance to ensure compliance!
