SGP ionic interlayer film has high strength and shear modulus, with excellent mechanical properties. Its shear modulus is more than 50 times that of ordinary PVB, and its tear strength is 5 times higher than that of ordinary PVB. After laminating with SGP film, when the glass is under stress, the adhesive layer between the two pieces of glass basically does not slide, and the two pieces of glass work as a single-piece glass of the same thickness. In this way, the bearing capacity is twice that of ordinary PVB laminated glass of the same thickness. At the same time, under the same load and the same thickness, the bending deflection of SGP laminated glass is only 1 / 4 of that of ordinary PVB laminated glass. Due to the increase in bearing capacity and the decrease in deflection, the glass thickness will be correspondingly reduced. It is possible to reduce the glass consumption by about 40%, and correspondingly reduce the self-weight of the curtain wall. This is not only beneficial to the design of the main structure, but also saves materials and energy.

 

It has good edge stability and can be used exposed without edge sealing:

Edge stability refers to the durability of the edge of laminated glass exposed to the atmosphere. PVB laminated glass is not resistant to moisture, and it is easy to delaminate and separate under the action of water vapor, so the exposed edges require edge sealing treatment. In contrast, Tongdun SGP laminated glass has good edge stability, is not sensitive to moisture, and will not delaminate or separate when used exposed, so it can be used with open edges without edge sealing. Therefore, SGP laminated glass can be conveniently used for components with exposed edges such as handrails, canopies, glass curtain walls, and glass sunshades without any special edge sealing measures.

After the glass is broken, there is sufficient residual bearing capacity and it will not fall off as a whole:

Ordinary PVB laminated glass, especially tempered laminated glass, will produce large bending deformation once the glass is broken, and there is a risk of the whole piece falling off. The risk is even greater when the glass is horizontally installed on the skylight. There have been cases where the glass has fallen off as a whole unexpectedly. The SGP interlayer film laminated glass has good integrity. Its tear strength is 5 times that of ordinary PVB interlayer film. Even if the glass is broken by any chance, the SGP interlayer film can still bond the broken glass to form a temporary structure after damage. Its bending deformation is small, and it can still bear a certain amount of load without the whole piece falling. This greatly improves the safety of the glass.

Colorless and transparent, not easy to change color, good permeability:

The SGP laminated film itself is colorless and transparent, and has good weather resistance and is not easy to turn yellow. The yellowing coefficient of the SGP film is less than 1.5, while that of the PVB film is 6~12. Therefore, SGP laminated glass can better meet the architectural art requirements of architects. If ultra-clear glass (low-iron glass) and SGP interlayer film are used to make ultra-clear laminated glass, it will have a crystal-clear optical effect.

Mechanical properties of ionic interlayer film laminated glass:

The working performance of several pieces of glass stacked together depends on the mechanical properties of the interlayer (laminated film). If the shear modulus G and tear strength f of the laminated film are very small (ordinary PVB laminated glass), the interlayer will produce large slippage when the laminated glass is bent, and the glass will slide relative to each other. In fact, the laminated film does not play the role of connecting the glass into a whole. These pieces of glass seem to be stacked together, but in fact they still work independently. The bearing capacity is only the sum of the bearing capacities of each piece of glass. On the contrary, if the shear modulus G and tear strength f of the laminated film are very high (SGP laminated glass), the slippage of the laminated film is extremely small when the laminated glass is bent. At this time, several pieces of glass can work together, just like a single piece of glass.
