In oil and gas extraction (especially in wellhead Christmas trees and fracturing equipment), the medium often contains sand, wax, and acidic and alkaline fluids, resulting in extremely harsh working conditions. Carbide valve seats and valve cores typically possess the following characteristics:
Material composition: Primarily based on tungsten carbide (WC), with cobalt (Co) added as a binder. Common grades include YG6, YG6X, YG8, and YG13. Lower cobalt content results in higher hardness but greater brittleness; finer grain size leads to better wear resistance.
Performance advantages:
High hardness: Vickers hardness can reach over 1600HV, enabling it to withstand high-pressure erosion.
Corrosion resistance: It remains stable in media containing hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and acidic substances.
Sealing performance: With precision grinding, it can achieve zero-leakage metal-to-metal hard sealing.
Manufacturing process: Powder metallurgy (mixing, pressing, sintering) + precision machining (centerless grinding, internal grinding, lapping).
Grades: YG6, YG6X, YG8, YG13, YG15 (Choose based on the requirements for wear resistance and impact resistance.)
Hardness :88.5 ～ 92.5 HRA (Equivalent to 1600–2200 HV)
Main applications: Oil wellhead equipment, fracturing trucks, mud pumps, chemical valves. (Formulations need to be adjusted for different operating conditions.)
