Functional CharacteristicsCommunication and Control
  • Requires multi-vendor communication software licensing. It can replace Westinghouse WDPF I/O Q cards, and after integration, the process is fully controlled by the advanced VA series algorithm set. By providing a connection between the Terminal Assembly (FTA) and the VA series system, all process signals connected to the Westinghouse system can be accessed and fully integrated into the VA series system for operator display, historical recording, alarming, control, etc.

Migration Strategy
  • The I/A series migration strategy replaces WDPF Distributed Processing Units (DPUs) with VA series control processors/FCMs and provides card-to-card replacement of I/O modules while retaining original process interface wiring and cabinets. The new I/A series system DCS FBM directly inserts into existing Q-Crates to replace Westinghouse I/O Q cards. The Q-cards are removed from the Q-crates, and their terminal assemblies are dismantled. Each device is replaced by the corresponding I/A series system DCS FBM, reusing the original I/O card terminal units installed in front of the I/O cards.

  • Process signals (e.g., current, voltage) cannot be acquired or output normally, with significant deviation between displayed and actual values.

  • Signal Interference

    • Cause: Interference from surrounding strong electromagnetic devices, or unshielded cables.

    • Solution: Add shielding layers to communication cables and ground them, keep away from interference sources like frequency converters and motors; check good grounding to avoid ground loops.

  • Terminal Assembly (FTA) Failure

    • Cause: Loose, oxidized, or damaged FTA terminals, leading to signal transmission interruption.
