GR-1089-CORE Figure 7-4 Jointed Finger Probe with Adjustalbe Stop Plate
This probe is required by GR-1089-CORE. It differs from the IEC standard probe because the jointed finger is 10mm longer and there is no simulated palm. The front section is removable for additional tests. The rest of the dimensions are in accordance with IEC standards. A special disk for the metal finger is also required by GR-1089.
Three levels of diminishing accessibility are defined: exposed, restricted access, and inaccessible. Accessibility to energized conductors or parts is determined by the use
of the test finger of Figure 7-4. This test finger is taken from Figure 2A of UL60950-1 that is modified by extending Part 3 of the UL test finger by 10 mm.
The extension can be made by inserting a 10 mm stub that has the same cross section dimensions as Part 3 of UL test finger. The distance between the tip of the test finger
and the insulating material is 90 mm as shown in Figure 7-4. Also, this test figure requires the use of 5.08-cm disk as shown in Figure 7-4
