The caliper disc brake has strong heat dissipation capacity and good thermal stability, so it is widely used in most cars and light trucks.

The caliper disc brake can be divided into fixed caliper disc type and floating caliper disc type according to the structural type of the brake caliper.

Fixed caliper disc brake

The brake caliper of fixed caliper disc brake is fixed on the axle, which can neither rotate nor move along the axis direction of the brake disc. Therefore, brake pad actuators (such as hydraulic cylinders equivalent to brake wheel cylinders) must be installed on both sides of the brake disc to press the brake pads on both sides to the brake disc.

Figure 1 shows the structure diagram of the fixed caliper disc brake. The brake disc 1 is fixed to the wheel hub, and the brake caliper 5 is fixed to the axle, which cannot rotate or move axially along the brake disc. The brake caliper is equipped with two brake wheel cylinder pistons 2, which press against the brake pads 3 on both sides of the brake disc. When the driver steps down the brake pedal to brake the car, the brake fluid from the brake master cylinder is pressed into the brake wheel cylinder, the hydraulic pressure of the brake wheel cylinder rises, the pistons of the two wheel cylinders move to the brake disc under the hydraulic pressure, press the brake block against the brake disc, and the brake block clamps the brake disc to generate Friction torque to prevent the wheel from rotating, so as to achieve braking.
