Disc brakes are also divided into caliper disc brakes and full disc brakes according to the different structural forms of their fixed elements. The fixed element and rotating element of the friction pair of the full disc brake are disc-shaped and are called fixed disc and rotating disc, respectively. All the working surfaces of the disc can be in contact with the friction pads at the same time, and its structural principle is similar to that of a friction clutch.
Classification
The caliper disc brake has strong heat dissipation ability and good thermal stability, so it is widely used in most cars and light trucks.
The caliper disc brake can be divided into two types: fixed caliper disc and floating caliper disc according to the caliper structure type.
Fixed Caliper Disc Brake
The caliper of fixed caliper disc brake is fixedly installed on the axle, which can neither rotate nor move along the direction of the brake disc axis, and thus it is necessary to install brake block actuating devices (such as the hydraulic cylinder equivalent to the brake wheel cylinder) on both sides of the brake disc in order to press the brake blocks on both sides to the brake disc respectively.
