KP11 Magnetic Stirrer
Enclosed in the aluminum-alloy casting housing, the stirrer is operated with micro-controller and buttons, capable of timing and displaying speed & temperature. Two digital display windows can indicate the speed and liquor temperature simultaneously, or alternatively show the real remaining time and temperature of the heating plate with changeover. It achieves more stable speed, larger speed regulation ratio, stronger stirring power due to the three-phase brush-less motor, and accurate temperature control with the accompanied Platinum resistance sensor.

II Operating Panel
- Digital display window: the left window shows the set temperature and temperature difference of the liquor in setting and stand-by modes, or displays the real temperatures of the liquor and the heating plate in operation mode. The right window shows the set speed and timing time in setting and stand-by modes, or displays real speed and remaining time in operation mode.
- Indicators: four function indicators for speed, time, temperature, and temperature difference, warm-up indicator, working indicators for stirring and heating are arranged on both sides of display windows. Function indicators tell the meaning of figures, while working indicators specify the working or out-of-work states. For example, when the heating plate is powered on, warm-up indicator lights. The stirring indicator lights telling that stirrer is running.
- Tap buttons: the setting button is for setting and switch, the up and down buttons for changing the set values, stirring button for start and shutdown, and the heating button is for turning heating on/off.
III Application
- Before operation, connect terminals of the power cable and the temperature sensor to the corresponding jacks at the back, then lay the stirrer horizontal, and put the beaker onto the central position of the heating plate. Place one stir into the beaker, insert the temperature sensor into the liquor, and fasten it to the bracket if necessary. Turn on the power switch (at the lower left of the panel) to bring the stirrer into stand-by state. At this time, speed and temperature indicators light, and the left window shows the initial set temperature (or the previous set temperature), and the right one displays the initial set speed (or the previous set speed).
- Setting: the user may set the speed and heating temperature as required. Press down the setting button once to witness figure on the right display window (speed) jittering, and then press the up or down button to set the desired speed (hold the up or down button to rapidly increase or decrease the figure). Press the setting button again till the time indicator lights, and then set the required time as the above (if no timing is necessary, "0" may be set). And then press the setting button again till the temperature indicator illuminates, and set the required temperature in the same way. Repeat pressing the button again to set the temperature difference. At last, press the setting button twice to make the speed and temperature indicators light. At this time, figures on the both windows stop jittering, representing the set temperature and speed. When the setting is complete, the settings will not change even in case of blackout.
- Temperature difference: the value is set depending on the highest temperature that the heating plate may achieve, which vice versa determine the speed and accuracy of the liquor warm-up.
Max temperature of the heating plate = set temperature of the liquor + temperature difference + (set temperature of the liquor - real temperature of the liquor) ×2.
As the above formula shows, the temperature of the heating plate decreases with the increase of the sample temperature. Also, the temperature difference will not work when the sample is heated about to the set temperature. In this case, automatic control works to increase the control accuracy.
The highest temperature of the heating plate is 320°C. If the temperature difference is set high, the highest temperature (320°C) will last for a long time. Otherwise, the heating plate will not be heated up to 320°C.The user may set the temperature based on the sample, and the temperature difference depending on the liquor volume, contact surface between the container (beaker) and the heating plate. If the temperature difference is set too high, the sample temperature will overshoot, otherwise the warm-up speed will be too slow or even the set temperature may not be up to.
- For operation, when all values are set, press the stirring button down into the working state, and then the stir in the container will run at increasing rate until the set speed. After pressing the heating button into heating status, the warm-up indicator (red) lights and the heating plate heats up. The left display window shows real temperature of the sample going up, and the right one displays the stirring speed.
During operation, pressing the setting button may shift the display in the way that the left window shows the temperature of the heating plate (temperature difference indicator lights) and the right window indicates the remaining time (time indicator lights).
During operation, pressing the up or down button may directly alter the set speed. The right window displays the modified speed at pressing, but it will show the real speed at releasing the button for one second. The stirrer will stabilize after reaching the modified speed without saving.
- This stirrer cannot be used only as electric furnace. The stirring procedure should be started first before heating. The heating process will automatically stop when the stirring ceases. It is better to increase the stirring speed when the temperature of the heating plate is set high, to facilitate the circulation of air in the stirrer and reduce overheat of the electronics.
IV Notes
- Power socket should be well grounded.
- Do not touch the heating plate to avoid injuries during stirring. The power cable and sensor lead should also be ketp away from the heating plate.
- During operating the stirrer, take some measures to prevent the liquor being spraying on the instrument and clean the instrument after use. Damages causes by corrosion are excluded from the warranty.
