Descriptions
Outdoor 20 pairs termina box (TP-1722-20MG) is used in terminating cables of secondary telephone networks to the cable pairs of subscriber lines.
The STUB terminal block also called VX terminal block provides a connection point between an exchange-side cable pair and a distribution pair. It incorporates a 5-point plug in module to provide continuity and a range of other options.
The box consists of a body and cover which houses a VX stubbed block. Provision for wall mounting is incorporated in the body of the box. The lid has various opening positions which can be selected according to the amount of working space available, and is also fitted with a seal to limit water entry. Grommets are incorporated in the body for drop wire access. The box locking mechanism is mounted through the cable stub and is effective on closing the box.
The terminal block is manufactured separately and then screwed into the box. Blocks can be manufactured from 5 to 20 pairs in units of 5. Two terminals for the pilot pair may also be provided. The ground terminals of each pair are electrically connected to the cable shielding and to an external ground terminal. The unit is sealed with resin and the
cable-block connection is sealed with heat-shrinkable tubing.
It is equipped with GDT (Gas Discharge Tube) arrester in side the plug-in module, which forms the protection circuit for the protection of exchange room equipments and personnel against over voltage and over current, for mainly as follows:
The surge voltage caused by lightning on or around the outside lines.
The short-time AC voltage inducted on external lines, when the power line, the power system or the electric railway system is broken down in the neighborhood of the outside line.
The outside line directly collides against a 220 V power line.
It is especially recommended for outdoor connections where the environmental conditions are extremely aggressive.
