1. Product Description
The 20 TPD (tonnes per day) Gold CIL Plant is a compact, fully integrated leaching and recovery system specifically engineered for small‑scale gold mining operations. With a nominal throughput of 20 metric tonnes of ore per day, this plant bridges the gap between manual processing and large industrial facilities – offering professional metallurgical performance at an affordable capital and operating cost.
This plant is ideal for junior miners, exploration projects, artisanal formalisation, or satellite deposits that do not justify a mega‑plant but still demand reliable, consistent gold recovery. Despite its modest size, the unit incorporates the same carbon‑in‑leach (CIL) chemistry and engineering principles used in major gold mills, ensuring that you achieve maximum extraction from your ore.
Our 20 TPD solution is delivered as a pre‑engineered, modular package that includes all necessary equipment – from feeding and crushing to grinding, leaching, carbon adsorption, elution, electrowinning, and smelting. We also provide full installation support, commissioning, and operator training, so your team can confidently run the plant from day one.
2. Working Principle
The plant follows the standard CIL flowsheet, adapted for small‑scale continuous operation:
Ore Feed & Grinding: Run‑of‑mine ore is fed into a jaw crusher, then conveyed to a ball mill in closed circuit with a cyclone or classifier. The mill reduces the ore to a fine slurry with the optimal particle size for gold liberation.
Leaching & Simultaneous Adsorption: The ground slurry flows by gravity into a series of mechanically agitated CIL tanks. Lime and sodium cyanide are dosed to maintain the required pH and free cyanide level. Activated carbon is added directly into the tanks – while gold dissolves into the solution, the carbon immediately adsorbs the gold cyanide complex. This concurrent action drives the leaching reaction forward and loads the carbon with gold.
Carbon Movement & Gold Recovery: Loaded carbon is periodically advanced counter‑current to the pulp flow, ensuring the most heavily loaded carbon is removed from the last tank. The loaded carbon then goes to a simple elution column, where a hot caustic‑cyanide solution strips the gold. The resultant pregnant solution is sent to electrowinning cells to deposit gold onto cathodes.
Smelting & Tailings: The gold‑bearing sludge is collected, dried, and smelted in a small furnace to produce doré bars. The final barren pulp passes through a cyanide destruction stage (using SO₂/air or hydrogen peroxide) before safe discharge to a tailings storage facility.
All critical parameters – pulp density, pH, oxygen, and carbon concentration – are monitored with basic instrumentation, with manual or semi‑automatic controls that make operation straightforward for local crews.
