Product Introduction
Electromagnetic flowmeters (Magmeters) are one of the most widely used liquid flow monitoring technologies in the industrial process market, with extensive applications in wastewater treatment, mining and mineral processing, utilities, and the food and beverage industries. The installation location within the pipeline is critical, as fluid disturbances caused by elbows, valves, and reducers can lead to measurement errors. The Picomag series does not require specific straight pipe lengths before and after the meter, making it particularly suitable for confined spaces. Electromagnetic flowmeters operate on the principle of magnetic induction, in which an electrified coil generates a magnetic field within the specified measurement pipe. As the medium flows through the pipe, ions in the conductive medium are deflected perpendicularly toward the magnetic field, causing positive and negative charge carriers to flow in opposite directions. Two electrodes in contact with the medium then measure the induced voltage. The measured signal voltage is proportional to the average flow velocity. The volumetric flow rate can be calculated using the known inner diameter of the pipe. Electromagnetic flow meters are suitable for a wide range of conductive liquids in industrial processes.
