Flat Steel is mainly divided into two mainstream types: Hot Rolled Flat Steel and Cold Drawn Flat Steel. These two kinds of Flat Steel are respectively suitable for structural load-bearing and precision mechanical parts processing scenarios.Hot Rolled Flat Steel is formed by high-temperature hot rolling with high yield rate, good toughness and strong bearing capacity, ideal for large steel structures, supports and embedded parts. Cold Drawn Flat Steel is finished by cold drawing process with precise size, smooth surface and high straightness, widely used in precision hardware, mechanical accessories and mold matching. Flat Steel features complete specifications and sufficient stock, supporting fixed-length cutting, punching, bending, welding and galvanizing deep processing. Custom non-standard thickness, width and length are available to meet various working conditions such as heavy load, precision processing and outdoor anti-corrosion. With stable material quality, good plasticity and excellent weldability, Flat Steel is easy to construct and install, serving as an indispensable core profile for industrial manufacturing and construction engineering.

‑ GB/T 704‑2018 National Standard for Hot Rolled Flat Steel 

‑ GB/T 3078‑2019 Standard for Cold Drawn Quality Structural Steel

3. Specification Parameters

Flat Steel conventional width: 12mm‑200mm, conventional thickness: 3mm‑60mm, standard fixed lengths: 6m, 9m, 12m, customized arbitrary lengths are supported. Hot Rolled Flat Steel features moderate dimensional tolerance, regular shape and no distortion, suitable for batch structural materials. Cold Drawn Flat Steel has high dimensional accuracy with tolerance controlled within ±0.05mm, smooth surface without burrs, perfect for precision parts processing. All Flat Steel can be straightened, cut, chamfered and punched, with customized non-standard special specifications available.

4. Surface Treatment

‑ Black Raw Material (Hot Rolled Flat Steel): original hot rolled surface with high cost performance, suitable for indoor steel structures, supports, embedded parts and civil engineering. 

‑ Polished Finishing (Cold Drawn Flat Steel): smooth and flawless surface, directly used for precision machinery, hardware accessories and decorative components. 

‑ Hot-dip / Electro Galvanizing (full range Flat Steel): anti-rust and anti-corrosion, resistant to moisture and oxidation, suitable for outdoor guardrails, steel structure curtain walls and open-air equipment supports. 

‑ Additional services such as painting, rust removal, sand blasting are available to meet different anti-corrosion and appearance standards.

5. Main Applications

Flat Steel is widely used in building steel structures, factory supports, equipment bases, mechanical processing, hardware products, curtain wall projects, bridge accessories, embedded parts, guardrail steel structures and agricultural machinery parts. Hot Rolled Flat Steel is mostly applied in civil engineering load-bearing structures, steel structure reinforcement, equipment bases, welded frames and municipal infrastructure. Cold Drawn Flat Steel is mainly used for precision mechanical parts, mold base plates, stamping parts and precision equipment components. Processing factories and engineering units select Hot Rolled Flat Steel and Cold Drawn Flat Steel according to accuracy, load and environmental requirements, giving full play to the advantages of Flat Steel such as easy processing, high strength and strong adaptability.

6. Packing, MOQ & Lead Time

‑ Packing: Flat Steel is bundled in categories, reinforced with steel strips, protected at ends and wrapped with waterproof materials to prevent deformation and corrosion during transportation, suitable for land transportation and sea export. 

‑ MOQ: 1 ton minimum order, mixed batch of Hot Rolled Flat Steel and Cold Drawn Flat Steel is supported, small-batch cutting retail is available. 

‑ Lead Time: 3‑7 days for regular stock; 7‑12 days for customized specifications and galvanized processing. Mill certificates and test reports are provided, SGS/BV third-party inspection is acceptable. Support FOB, CIF, DAP and other international trade terms.
