Color Coated Steel Coil, also known as prepainted steel coil, is a composite coated steel product manufactured by continuous roller coating and high-temperature baking curing process with hot-dip galvanized and galvalume steel strips as substrates. Color Coated Steel Coil integrates the mechanical strength of steel and the anti-corrosion & decorative properties of organic coatings, featuring flat surface, uniform color and excellent weather resistance. It can be directly processed by profiling, bending, shearing and punching without secondary painting, serving as a core raw material for steel structure buildings, home appliance manufacturing and decorative engineering. Color Coated Steel Coil is mainly divided into PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil and PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil. Different types of Color Coated Steel Coil accurately adapt to conventional inland environments, coastal high salt spray and chemical high-corrosion working conditions. With complete RAL color systems and special surface processes such as matte, glossy, printed and frosted, Color Coated Steel Coil is available in sufficient stock and customized production. PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil has good formability, high cost performance and strong coating adhesion without peeling or cracking, widely used in ordinary factories, warehouses, fences and indoor home appliance shells. Adopting 55% aluminum-zinc alloy coating, PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil has far better anti-corrosion, salt spray and UV resistance than ordinary galvanized substrates, with greatly extended outdoor service life, suitable for harsh working conditions such as coastal areas, chemical parks and photovoltaic power stations. Color Coated Steel Coil has four mainstream coating systems: PE polyester, SMP silicon-modified polyester, HDP high-durability polyester and PVDF fluorocarbon, which can match corresponding paint film solutions according to project service life and outdoor environment. Color Coated Steel Coil supports deep processing services such as flattening, slitting, film laminating and profiling. 3. Specification Parameters
Conventional thickness of Color Coated Steel Coil: 0.20mm-2.0mm; conventional width: 600mm-1250mm; standard inner diameter: 508mm/610mm; single coil weight: 3-10 tons. The zinc coating weight of PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil is Z30-Z275g/㎡ with precise dimensional tolerance and full size coverage, suitable for various conventional building and home appliance materials. The aluminum-zinc coating weight of PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil is AZ50-AZ150g/㎡ with dense and uniform coating and excellent anti-corrosion performance, which is the first choice for high-end outdoor projects. Standard coating structure: 2/1 (two coats on front, one coat on back), 2/2 (double coats on both sides); front paint film thickness: 18-35μm, back paint film thickness: 8-20μm. Custom RAL colors, printed, matte and pearlescent special surfaces are available, as well as flattened steel plates, slitted narrow strips and surface scratch-proof film laminating. Non-standard specifications can be customized.
4. Substrate & Paint Type
- PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil: GI hot-dip galvanized substrate with stable coating adhesion, no paint peeling during bending and forming, moderate cost and high cost performance, suitable for inland ordinary buildings, indoor equipment and conventional steel structure engineering.
- PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil: GL galvalume substrate with self-healing aluminum-zinc alloy coating, excellent weather resistance, corrosion resistance and aging resistance, suitable for coastal, chemical, high temperature and humidity heavy corrosion environments.
- Four mainstream paint films: PE ordinary polyester (high cost performance, general scenarios), SMP silicon-modified polyester (good heat resistance, wear resistance and color retention), HDP high-durability polyester (long-term outdoor weather resistance), PVDF fluorocarbon (ultra weather resistance, UV resistance, dedicated for high-end projects).
- All Color Coated Steel Coil can be laminated to avoid surface scratches during processing and transportation. Both PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil and PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil support customized coating thickness and surface processes.
5. Main Applications

- Packing: Color Coated Steel Coil adopts national standard export-grade moisture-proof and rust-proof packaging, including waterproof paper, plastic film, steel corner protectors and steel strap binding, which is firm, compression and scratch resistant, suitable for sea container, railway and long-distance truck transportation.
- MOQ: 5 tons minimum order quantity, mixed batch of PPGI Color Coated Steel Coil and PPGL Galvalume Color Coated Steel Coil is supported to meet flexible procurement needs.
- Lead Time: 7-12 days for conventional in-stock colors; 20-30 days for customized colors, special paint films and special processes. Original material certificates and coating test reports can be provided.
