1. Product Overview
Color Coated Steel Coil, also known as prepainted steel coil, is a new-type composite building material processed by continuous coil coating production line. It takes cold rolled coil, hot-dip galvanized coil or hot-dip galvalume coil as the substrate, after surface chemical pretreatment, continuous organic coating and high-temperature baking curing. Color Coated Steel Coil integrates metal mechanical strength and organic coating anti-corrosion performance, featuring beautiful appearance, durable weather resistance and easy processing.
PPGI Coil (Prepainted Galvanized Iron Coil) adopts hot-dip galvanized steel as the base material. With stable zinc layer protection and high-adhesion organic paint film, PPGI Coil has excellent anti-rust performance and cost-effective advantages, being the most widely used color coated material for conventional indoor and outdoor buildings.
PPGL Coil (Prepainted Galvalume Steel Coil) uses 55% aluminum-zinc alloy coated steel as the substrate. Compared with PPGI, PPGL Coil possesses ultra-strong corrosion resistance, UV resistance and aging resistance, suitable for high-corrosion coastal areas and long-term outdoor exposure engineering projects.
2. Product Classification
2.1 Classification by Substrate Type
Cold Rolled Base Color Coated Coil: High flatness, smooth surface, mainly used for indoor decoration and precision stamping parts.
PPGI Coil (Galvanized Base): Good anti-rust performance, cost-effective, widely used in factory buildings, warehouses and ordinary outdoor structures.
PPGL Coil (Galvalume Base): Super weather resistance and anti-corrosion performance, specially applicable for coastal, high-temperature and high-humidity harsh environments.
2.2 Classification by Paint Coating Type
PE (Polyester) Coating: Excellent flexibility and bending performance, cost-effective, service life of 5–8 years, suitable for conventional indoor and inland outdoor projects.
SMP (Silicon Modified Polyester) Coating: Improved hardness and anti-chalking performance, good weather resistance, service life of 8–12 years, applicable for medium weathering outdoor buildings.
HDP (High Durability Polyester) Coating: Strong UV resistance and anti-aging performance, stable color retention, service life of 12–15 years, ideal for high-demand outdoor engineering.
PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) Coating: Ultra-strong weather and corrosion resistance, excellent color stability, service life up to 20–25 years, used for high-end architectural exterior walls and coastal heavy corrosion projects.
2.3 Classification by Surface Effect
Solid color coating: RAL standard color series, uniform and flat surface.
Special texture coating: Matt finish, wrinkle finish, sand grain finish, high-gloss finish.
Imitation texture series: Imitation wood grain, imitation stone grain, imitation brick grain for decorative engineering.
3. Production Process Flow
All Color Coated Steel Coil, PPGI Coil and PPGL Coil are produced via advanced continuous color coating production lines with strictly controlled processes:
Substrate incoming inspection and surface cleaning
Chemical pretreatment (degreasing, passivation, chromate treatment)
Primer roller coating and high-temperature curing
Topcoat roller coating and secondary high-temperature baking
Surface protection film laminating (optional)
Online performance inspection (coating thickness, adhesion, flexibility)
Finished coiling, marking, packaging and warehousing
The continuous roller coating process ensures uniform paint film thickness, strong coating adhesion and no color difference. The finished Color Coated Steel Coil features stable physical and chemical properties, avoiding peeling, cracking and fading during long-term use.

6. Usage Precautions
Select matching coating type and substrate for Color Coated Steel Coil, PPGI Coil and PPGL Coil according to the application environment; PVDF or HDP high weather resistance coating is recommended for coastal and industrial corrosive areas.
Avoid sharp object scratching and violent collision during transportation, stacking and processing to prevent coating damage affecting anti-corrosion and appearance effect.
Store in dry and ventilated warehouse, avoid long-term exposure to rain and humid air to prevent water mark and coating foaming.
Reserve reasonable bending radius during cold bending processing to prevent coating cracking caused by excessive deformation.
Different batches of color coated coils have slight color difference; unified batch materials shall be used for integrated engineering projects.
