Steel Sheet & Plate & Shipbuilding Plate,AH36、DH36、EH36、AH40、DH40、EH40
Shipbuilding plate, also known as hull structural steel plate, is the core raw material for shipbuilding industry. Main products include Shipbuilding Steel Plate, AH36 Ship Plate, and Classification Society Certified Ship Plate. Produced by clean steel smelting and controlled rolling & cooling process, Shipbuilding Steel Plate features low impurity content, high strength, excellent low-temperature impact toughness, good seawater corrosion resistance and superior weldability.
AH36 Ship Plate is the mainstream high-strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate with the largest market demand, widely used for load-bearing structures such as ship decks, side shells and bottom hulls.
Classification Society Certified Ship Plate has obtained certification from major classification societies with official survey certificates, which is essential material for ocean-going vessel construction. All kinds of Shipbuilding Steel Plate adapt to complex marine working conditions, resist alternating loads and fatigue, and withstand wave impact. They are indispensable steel materials for bulk carriers, container ships, engineering vessels and yachts.
1. Product Classification
1.1 Classification by Strength Grade
General strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate: Grade A, B, D, E, applied to secondary structures of inland waterway ships and small vessels.
High-strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate: AH36, DH36, EH36. AH36 Ship Plate is the main grade used for primary force-bearing components of hulls.
Ultra-high strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate: AH40, DH40, EH40, adopted for key parts of large ocean-going vessels and offshore platforms.
1.2 Classification by Certification
Classification Society Certified Ship Plate: Approved by CCS, LR, BV, DNV, ABS, KR, with corresponding survey certificates. Prioritized for ocean-going ships.
Non-certified ship plate: Suitable for inland ships, ship auxiliary parts and steel structure projects without survey certificates.
1.3 Classification by Service Temperature
Normal-temperature Shipbuilding Steel Plate, low-temperature Shipbuilding Steel Plate (Grade D/E to meet impact requirements in low-temperature sea areas). AH36 Ship Plate includes normal-temperature type as well as low-temperature DH36 & EH36 series.
2. Main Grades & Applicable Conditions
Domestic Common Grades
Grade A/B/D/E: General strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate for superstructures of inland and small ships.
AH36 Ship Plate: Popular high-strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate, core material for decks, hull shells, longitudinal girders and cross beams of container ships and bulk carriers.
DH36, EH36: Low-temperature high-strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate for vessels sailing in cold sea areas requiring low-temperature impact resistance.
AH40/DH40/EH40: Ultra-high strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate for large offshore platforms and ocean-going vessels.
Export Grades
Compliant with specifications of major classification societies. Certified Classification Society Certified Ship Plate is available. AH36 Ship Plate is the most frequently purchased grade by overseas customers, conforming to international shipbuilding standards.
3. Executive Standards
✅ National Standard: GB 712-2011 Steel for Hull Structure
✅ International Standards: Rules of Classification Societies (CCS, ABS, BV, DNV, LR, KR)All Shipbuilding Steel Plate, AH36 Ship Plate and Classification Society Certified Ship Plate are rolled and inspected in accordance with hull structural steel standards.
4. Specification Parameters
Thickness Range: 6mm–100mm, customized extra-thick Shipbuilding Steel Plate available.Standard Width: 1500mm, 1800mm, 2000mm, 2200mm, 2500mmStandard Length: 6000mm–12000mmProcessing Service: CNC cutting, flame cutting, plasma blanking, bending and NDT. AH36 Ship Plate and Classification Society Certified Ship Plate can be cut according to drawings.
5. Production Process
Molten steel refining → Continuous casting slab rolling → Controlled temperature rolling → Heat treatment (normalizing / controlled rolling) → Surface cleaning → Dimensional inspection → Mechanical property test → Impact test → Ultrasonic inspection → Classification society survey (for Classification Society Certified Ship Plate) → Marking → Finished product storage. The whole process ensures dense internal structure of Shipbuilding Steel Plate without delamination or inclusion defects.
6. Core Advantages
Stable mechanical performance: Shipbuilding Steel Plate meets standard tensile and yield strength, resists alternating wave loads and avoids permanent deformation during long-term service.
Excellent low-temperature toughness: Grade D/E plates pass low-temperature impact test to guarantee hull safety in cold sea areas. AH36 Ship Plate balances strength and toughness perfectly.
Outstanding weldability: Moderate carbon equivalent prevents cracking during hull assembly welding and improves construction efficiency.
Good resistance to marine environment: Anti-corrosion under humid atmosphere and seawater conditions with prominent fatigue resistance.
Complete qualifications: Classification Society Certified Ship Plate can provide official survey certificates to pass acceptance by shipyards and ship owners.
7. Application Fields
Ocean-going vessels: Hulls of container ships, bulk carriers and oil tankers, largely using AH36 Ship Plate and Classification Society Certified Ship Plate.
Inland water transportation: Barges, ferries and small cargo ships adopting general strength Shipbuilding Steel Plate.
Offshore engineering: Offshore platforms, floating structures, dock barges and marine lifting equipment.
Special vessels: Work ships, salvage vessels, yachts and fishing boats.
Supporting steel structures: Ship accessories, offshore steel structures and port equipment.
8. Quality Inspection
Graded inspection standards are implemented for Shipbuilding Steel Plate, AH36 Ship Plate and Classification Society Certified Ship Plate: visual inspection, dimensional measurement, tensile test, normal/low-temperature impact test, hardness test and ultrasonic inspection.Survey attendance can be arranged for Classification Society Certified Ship Plate to issue official certificates. Third-party inspection by SGS is acceptable, and complete Mill Test Certificate (MTC) can be supplied.
9. Packaging, Lead Time & Trade Information
