1. Product Definition
Boiler Plate, fully named steel plate for boilers and pressure vessels, is a kind of medium and heavy steel plate specially used for manufacturing boiler drums, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and various pressure-bearing components. It can operate stably for a long time under high temperature, high pressure and alternating load conditions, featuring high temperature resistance, pressure resistance, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and excellent weldability. We mainly supply Carbon Boiler Plate and Low Alloy Boiler Plate. With pure material, dense internal structure and stable overall performance, our products are core special steel materials for boiler and pressure vessel manufacturing.
2. Core Product Advantages
Stable high-temperature performance and strong creep resistance: Manufactured by mature processes such as normalizing and controlled rolling, the plate maintains stable strength at 350–550℃, and effectively resists thermal fatigue and creep deformation without cracking or deformation after long-term service.
Excellent pressure resistance, impact resistance and low-temperature toughness: It boasts high mechanical strength to withstand internal high pressure and water hammer impact. It also retains good impact toughness at low temperatures to avoid brittle fracture, ensuring high operational safety.
Good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance: The content of harmful impurities like sulfur and phosphorus is strictly controlled. The plate can resist steam-water erosion and high-temperature oxidation, reduce material loss and effectively extend the service life of pressure-bearing equipment.
Superior machinability and weldability: It has a low carbon equivalent and low sensitivity to welding cracks, compatible with mainstream welding processes including arc welding and submerged arc welding. Its good cold bending plasticity enables the production of various complex pressure-bearing components.
Strict quality inspection and high compliance: Produced in accordance with national special standards, the plates support Grade Ⅱ and Grade Ⅲ ultrasonic flaw detection. Complete material certificates and flaw detection reports are provided for each batch, meeting the supervision and inspection requirements for special equipment.
3. Common Material Grades and Applicable Working Conditions
Carbon Boiler Plate (Q245R): Corresponding to old grades 20R and 20G, with a yield strength of 245MPa and maximum operating temperature ≤ 450℃. It is widely used for drums of medium and low-pressure boilers, steam distributors, ordinary heat exchangers and atmospheric storage tanks, serving as the most universal boiler steel material on the market.
Low Alloy Boiler Plate (Q345R): With a yield strength of 345MPa and applicable temperature range from -20℃ to 475℃. It has balanced comprehensive mechanical properties, and is extensively applied to medium and high-pressure boilers, large pressure vessels, reaction equipment and thick-wall pressure-bearing components.
High-strength Boiler Plate (Q370R, 13MnNiMoR): With yield strength no less than 370MPa, it delivers better high-temperature strength and toughness. It is suitable for high-pressure power station boilers, large storage tanks and heavy-duty pressure equipment under harsh working conditions.
Alloy Heat-resistant Boiler Plate (15CrMoR, 12Cr2Mo1R): Added with chromium and molybdenum alloy elements, it has outstanding high-temperature corrosion resistance and creep resistance, and can work at 550–600℃. It is mostly used for high-temperature and high-pressure superheaters, hydrogenation reactors and other equipment.
4. Specification Parameters
Thickness: 6mm–120mm. Regular sizes include 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, 50mm and 60mm. Custom extra-thick plates from 80mm to 120mm are available.
Width: 1500mm–3000mm. Mainstream sizes are 1800mm, 2000mm, 2200mm and 2500mm. The plate surface is flat without warpage, waviness, delamination or inclusion defects.
Length: 6000mm–12000mm. Fixed lengths of 6m, 9m and 12m are supported. Deep processing services such as flame cutting, plasma cutting, beveling and drilling are available.
Delivery Status: Hot rolled, normalized, thermo-mechanical controlled rolling (TMCP), normalized + tempered. High-strength plates and extra-thick plates are all normalized to ensure uniform metallographic structure and stable performance.
Flaw Detection Grade: Standard Grade Ⅱ UT flaw detection; Grade Ⅲ UT flaw detection is optional for high-pressure and thick plates. Custom Z15, Z25, Z35 through-thickness lamellar tearing resistance is available to meet the requirements of high-end projects.
5. Production Process
High-quality low-sulfur and low-phosphorus steel billet feeding → Uniform high-temperature heating → Rough rolling forming → Precision temperature-controlled finish rolling → Cooling and shaping → Normalizing / tempering heat treatment → Precision straightening → Surface cleaning and impurity removal → Ultrasonic non-destructive flaw detection → Fixed-length cutting → Dimensional and performance re-inspection → Anti-rust oil spraying → Marking → Packaging and warehousing. The whole process strictly controls impurity content, grain structure and mechanical indicators to ensure all finished products comply with standards for boiler steel materials.

7. Main Applications
Power station boilers: Mainly adopting Q345R and 15CrMoR for core components such as drums, water walls, superheaters, reheaters, economizers and headers.
Industrial boilers: Q245R and Q345R are commonly used for drums, furnace liners and heads of steam boilers, hot water boilers and waste heat boilers.
Petrochemical pressure vessels: Q345R and 13MnNiMoR are the main materials for reactors, heat exchangers, storage tanks, spherical tanks, towers and other pressure-bearing equipment.
Nuclear power and special equipment: High-end grades including 12Cr2Mo1R and Q370R are applied to nuclear power auxiliary equipment, hydrogenation reactors and high-temperature & high-pressure pipelines.
Boiler renovation and maintenance: Ideal for old equipment upgrading, drum replacement and structural reinforcement with high material compatibility and good welding performance.
8. Delivery Cycle
Conventional in-stock plates: Sufficient stock of mainstream Q245R and Q345R. Goods will be delivered within 3–5 working days after payment confirmation.
Conventional processing orders: Orders requiring fixed-length cutting, beveling, drilling and other processing will be completed within 5–7 working days.
High-strength / alloy material orders: Production lead time for special grades like Q370R and 15CrMoR is 7–12 working days.
Extra-thick plate / high-grade flaw detection custom orders: Custom products including plates over 60mm thick, Grade Ⅲ UT flaw detection and Z-direction performance take 10–18 working days for production.
Urgent orders: In-stock goods can be loaded and delivered on the same day. Custom processing orders will be scheduled preferentially to shorten delivery time.
9. Quality Inspection
All plates undergo a full set of inspections before delivery, including spectral chemical composition analysis, normal/high temperature tensile test, low-temperature impact test, cold bending test, ultrasonic flaw detection, appearance and dimensional verification. Defects such as delamination, cracks, inclusions and unqualified performance are strictly eliminated. Material certificates, flaw detection reports and product certificates are provided for each batch. The whole quality process is traceable to pass third-party supervision and inspection smoothly.
10. Packaging Method
Conventional industrial packaging: The plate surface is coated with special anti-rust oil and covered with protective film. Corner protectors are installed, and the whole package is wrapped with waterproof and moisture-proof layers and fastened with multiple steel belts to prevent collision, scratches and rust during transportation.
Export packaging: Plates are packed with solid wooden pallets, fully wrapped with shockproof and moisture-proof materials and reinforced with high-strength corner protectors. It is suitable for long-distance ocean transportation without deformation or rust, complying with export commodity inspection standards.
11. Storage and Usage Precautions
Storage environment: Store in dry, ventilated, rain-proof and moisture-proof indoor warehouses. Long-term outdoor stacking, water immersion, direct sunlight and salt spray erosion are forbidden to avoid rust and degradation of mechanical properties.
Stacking management: Stack plates by material, thickness and specification and keep them elevated off the ground. Separate carbon plates and alloy plates, keep away from acid, alkali and other corrosive substances, and control stacking height properly to prevent extrusion deformation and surface damage.
Processing and welding: Avoid scratching the plate surface and bevels with sharp hard objects during processing. Follow technical requirements for preheating, temperature control and slow cooling during welding to prevent cold cracks and material embrittlement and guarantee weld strength.
Working condition matching: Select corresponding heat-resistant and high-strength materials for high-temperature and high-pressure working conditions, and never use low-grade plates as substitutes. Operate strictly in accordance with design parameters and avoid over-temperature and over-pressure service.
