1. Product Overview
Color coated steel coils (commonly known as PPGI and PPGL) are manufactured by applying organic paint coatings on cold rolled steel, hot‑dip galvanized steel, or hot‑dip galvalume steel substrates. After degreasing and chemical passivation pretreatment, the steel surface is continuously roller‑coated and cured at high temperature to form a uniform protective finish.
Color coated steel combines the mechanical strength and processability of steel with the corrosion resistance, weather durability and decorative appearance of organic coatings. The finished coils require no on‑site repainting and can be directly bent, profiled and cut. They are widely used in steel structure buildings, home appliances and decorative industries as lightweight anti‑corrosion materials.
2. Production Process
Coil uncoiling → Surface degreasing & cleaning → Chemical passivation pretreatment → Primer coating & baking → Topcoat coating & baking (back coating optional) → Air cooling → Surface quality inspection → Slitting / rewinding → Oil coating & film lamination (optional) → Final packaging & warehousing
The standard production process is two-coat two-bake (primer + topcoat). High-end outdoor products adopt a three-coat three-bake process to achieve superior weather resistance and anti-corrosion performance.

4. Common Substrates, Grades and Applications
4.1 Substrate Types
Hot‑dip Galvanized (GI): Cost-effective with strong coating adhesion. Suitable for general indoor and outdoor construction applications. Finished product known as PPGI.
Hot‑dip Galvalume (GL): Aluminum‑zinc alloy coating with 2–3 times higher corrosion resistance than ordinary galvanized steel. Ideal for coastal and highly corrosive environments. Finished product known as PPGL.
Cold Rolled Substrate: Ultra-smooth surface, suitable for high-end home appliances, interior decoration and precision sheet metal parts.
4.2 Main Steel Grades
DX51D+AZ / SGCC: General construction grade with excellent bending and profiling performance for roofing and wall cladding.
DX52D+AZ: Drawing grade for simple stamping and irregular sheet metal components.
DX53D+AZ: Deep drawing grade for home appliance shells and complex formed parts.
G550: High-strength structural grade with high hardness and load capacity, used for load-bearing roof panels and floor decks.
5. Coating Systems
5.1 PE (Polyester)
Cost-effective with excellent adhesion and flexibility and rich color options. Moderate weather resistance. Suitable for interior decoration, factory interior walls and temporary buildings. Service life: 5–8 years.
5.2 SMP (Silicon Modified Polyester)
Better anti-chalking and anti-fading performance than standard polyester with improved temperature resistance. Suitable for outdoor factories, warehouses and general exterior walls. Service life:8–12 years.
5.3 HDP (High Durability Polyester)
Specially formulated for harsh outdoor conditions with outstanding UV resistance, anti-aging and anti-fading properties. Designed for long-term exposed building panels. Service life: 12–15 years.
5.4 PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride)
High-end premium coating with extreme chemical stability, acid/alkali resistance and superior salt spray and UV resistance. Resistant to fading and chalking. Ideal for coastal high-corrosion areas, high-end venues and curtain wall projects. Service life: 15–25 years.

7. Surface Finishes & Colors
7.1 Surface Effects
High gloss, matte, frosted, orange peel, metallic glitter and other finishes available.
7.2 Custom Textures
Solid color, wood grain, stone grain, camouflage, embossed and brushed textures customizable.
7.3 Standard Color System
Full RAL color range available. Regular construction colors such as sea blue, light gray, crimson, dark gray, ivory white and dark green are in stock. Special colors can be customized.
7.4 Surface Protection
Transparent protective film can be attached on the front side. Anti-rust back coating is standard to prevent scratches and oxidation during transportation and processing.
8. Mechanical & Functional Performance
Formability: Strong coating adhesion, 180° cold bending without cracking or peeling. Suitable for profiling, bending, punching and cutting.
Corrosion Resistance: Dual protection of metal substrate coating and organic topcoat effectively isolates moisture and air, providing excellent salt spray and acid/alkali resistance.
Weather Resistance: High-quality coatings resist UV radiation, aging, fading and chalking under long-term outdoor exposure.
Physical Performance: Light weight, high strength, deformation resistance, shockproof, sound insulation and easy installation.
Environmental Performance: Odor-free, pollution-free and fully recyclable, complying with green building standards.

11. Packaging Standard
Adopts heavy-duty industrial packaging with inner anti-rust paper + moisture-proof plastic film, outer protective boards and steel strapping with edge protectors to prevent collision and damage. Each coil is clearly marked with grade, specification, coating type, color, weight, heat number and standard. Ordinary packaging, reinforced moisture-proof packaging and vacuum seaworthy export packaging are available for long-distance and marine transportation.
12. Delivery Terms

- Dimensional Tolerance: Strictly compliant with GB standards; high-precision customized tolerance available

13. Shipment Cycle
The shipment cycle takes effect after payment confirmation and excludes logistics transportation time. Delivery time varies by order type:
1. Standard Stock Orders
In-stock items including mainstream thickness 0.3–0.8 mm, standard RAL construction colors, PE/SMP coatings and regular galvanized/galvalume substrates: 1–3 working days for inspection, packaging and shipment.
2. Custom Processing Orders
Special thickness/width, slitting & cutting, film lamination, special textures/colors, HDP and PVDF high-end coatings: 3–7 working days for customized processing and delivery.
3. Bulk Production Orders
Large-tonnage orders, special high coating weight, non-standard colors and special technical requirements requiring formal production scheduling: 7–15 working days, confirmed separately according to order parameters.
4. Urgent Orders
Priority arrangement available. Stock goods can be shipped within 24 hours; customized orders can be expedited.
