Product Overview
The Laboratory Ball Mill is a compact, intermittent (batch-type) wet & dry grinding machine designed for mineral processing test work, ore amenability study, and small-batch sample grinding in geological, metallurgical, and mining laboratories.
It is widely used to grind gold ore, copper ore, iron ore, tungsten/tin ore, chromite, and non-metallic minerals (quartz, feldspar, limestone, cement clinker, etc.) before gravity separation, flotation, or cyanidation tests. The machine features simple structure, easy operation, low power consumption, and is ideal for research institutes, universities, and pilot plants.
Working Principle
The drum is driven by an electric motor through a V-belt and pinion–girth gear set to rotate at a proper speed (typically 40–50 rpm for Φ400×600). Grinding media (steel balls of various sizes) are lifted by centrifugal force and then cascade down, crushing the ore by impact and attrition.
Wet grinding: Add water to form slurry; discharge via sieve screen or manual decanting after timed grinding.
Dry grinding: Close the feed opening; discharge by opening the discharge port after grinding.
The batch-type operation allows users to control grinding time precisely to achieve target fineness (commonly -200 mesh / 0.074 mm).
