1. Product Overview
Boiler steel plate, fully known as special steel plate for boilers and pressure vessels, is the core special steel for pressure-bearing special equipment, manufactured in accordance with Chinese national standard GB 713-2014. It is specially applied to the production of high-temperature and high-pressure pressure-bearing components such as boiler drums, headers, steam drums, heads, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
The steel plates operate under long-term service conditions of high temperature, high pressure, alternating loads and water vapor corrosion. Compared with ordinary carbon steel plates, they have mandatory safety requirements for special equipment in terms of purity, high-temperature strength, impact toughness, weldability and flaw detection grade. They feature outstanding creep resistance, fatigue resistance, water vapor corrosion resistance and low-temperature anti-cracking performance, and are widely used in thermal power, industrial boilers, heating, petrochemical and chemical pressure vessel industries.
2. Applicable Standards & Main Grades
2.1 Chinese National Standard GB 713-2014
Carbon Boiler Steel Plate (for medium & low pressure working conditions, service temperature ≤450℃)
Q245R (replaced old grade 20G): Used for civil heating boilers, small industrial steam boilers and atmospheric storage tanksTypical chemical composition: C ≤0.20%, Si 0.20~0.55%, Mn 0.50~1.10%, P ≤0.025%, S ≤0.010%, smelted with high-purity molten steel and strictly controlled impurities
Low Alloy High Strength Boiler Steel Plate (universal for medium & high pressure, service temperature ≤475℃)
Q345R (replaced old grade 16MnG): The most widely used grade for auxiliary power plant boilers, chemical reactors and large heating boilers
Q370R: Applied to thick-walled high-pressure vessels and power station steam drums with higher yield strength
Cr-Mo Heat-resistant Alloy Boiler Steel Plate (high temperature & high pressure working conditions, 500~580℃ main power station equipment)
15CrMoR: Superheaters and headers within 520℃
12Cr1MoVR: Main pressure-bearing parts of subcritical and supercritical power station boilers below 570℃ with excellent high-temperature creep resistance
13MnNiMoR: Thick-walled high-pressure steam drums and large nuclear power supporting pressure shells

Delivery condition: Hot rolled, normalized, normalized & tempered (heat treatment is mandatory for heat-resistant alloy plates to refine grains and improve high-temperature stability)
4. Core Mechanical & Processing Properties
4.1 Basic Mechanical Properties (Standard Q345R)
Tensile strength: 490~630MPa
Yield strength: ≥345MPa
Elongation after fracture: ≥21%
Low-temperature impact energy at -20℃: ≥71J, excellent low-temperature toughness to prevent cracking of equipment in cold regions
Hardness: ≤200HB, no cracking during cold bending
4.2 Key Characteristics
Stable high-temperature pressure resistance: High medium-term long-term strength, excellent long-term anti-creep performance without slow deformation and bulging under high temperature; stable microstructure without pearlite spheroidization failure
Low sulfur & phosphorus with high purity: Smelted by electric furnace + LF refining + VD vacuum degassing to produce pure steel with fewer internal inclusions and high flaw detection pass rate
Optional flaw detection grades: Grade I / II / III ultrasonic testing to meet supervision inspection requirements of special equipment
Excellent weldability: Low carbon equivalent design, suitable for manual arc welding, submerged arc welding and TIG welding. Thick plates only require simple preheating without cold cracks after welding
Good hot & cold workability: Available for bending, circle rolling, head stamping, cutting and drilling without stress cracking after forming
Medium corrosion resistance: Resistant to saturated water vapor and mild hydrogen sulfide corrosion, suitable for boiler water circulation working conditions
5. Production Process
Steelmaking: Converter / electric furnace smelting → LF refining → VD vacuum degassing with strict control of harmful impurities S and P
Continuous casting: Large cross-section pure steel billet to reduce internal looseness and segregation
Controlled rolling & cooling: Precise rolling by wide and heavy plate mill to control grain size
Heat treatment: Normalizing and tempering for uniform conditioning to eliminate rolling stress
Non-destructive testing: 100% ultrasonic flaw detection and surface magnetic particle testing
Physical & chemical re-inspection: Re-inspection of tensile, impact, hardness and spectral composition with original mill test certificate issued
Marking, coding and packing, attached with material certificate, flaw detection report and special equipment qualification certificate

7. Supply & Foreign Trade Terms

Loading ports: Support FOB / CIF trade terms
Payment terms: 30% TT advance payment, 70% balance paid before shipment; L/C letter of credit is not accepted
Supporting documents: Original mill test certificate, ultrasonic flaw detection report, factory certificate and special equipment supervision inspection certificate; bilingual Chinese & English documents can be provided
Surface treatment: Original hot rolled black surface; sand blasting, anti-rust primer coating and groove cutting can be customized as required
8. Storage & Operation Precautions
Store in rain-proof and moisture-proof warehouse; place at bottom supports for long-term stacking to avoid surface rust affecting flaw detection
Preheat thick plates (thickness>12mm) to 100~200℃ before welding and slow cooling after welding to reduce welding stress
The long-term service temperature of heat-resistant alloy plates shall not exceed the designed upper limit of corresponding grades to avoid accelerated material aging caused by over-temperature
Stress relief heat treatment is recommended after cold rolling for formed heads to extend service life of equipment
