Galvanized steel pipe is a carbon steel pipe (straight seam welded pipe / seamless steel pipe) coated with zinc on the surface. It features excellent anti-corrosion performance, high mechanical strength and cost-effectiveness, and is a mainstream pipe material widely used for low-pressure fluid transportation and structural engineering.
1. Product Classification & Definition
Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Pipe (Main Type): The steel pipe is immersed in molten zinc liquid at 450℃±5℃ to form a zinc-iron alloy layer plus pure zinc layer. It has thick coating (≥85μm), uniform surface, strong adhesion and long service life.
Cold Galvanized Steel Pipe (Prohibited for Use): Produced by electroplating. Its zinc coating is thin (10–50g/m²), easy to peel off and poor in corrosion resistance. It is forbidden to be used for water and gas transportation.
Base Material: Q235B / Q355B carbon steel, maintaining high strength and good weldability.
Executive Standards: Low-pressure fluid pipes comply with GB/T 3091-2015; structural pipes comply with GB/T 13793.
2. Production Process (Hot-dip Galvanizing)
Degreasing → Pickling → Flux Coating → Drying → Hot-dip Galvanizing (1–2 minutes) → Cooling → Passivation → Quality InspectionFunction of zinc coating: Physical isolation and sacrificial anode protection. The zinc layer corrodes first to protect the steel pipe body.

Dimensional Tolerance: Outer diameter ±0.5%, wall thickness ±10%.
4. Product Features
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: The thickness of hot-dip zinc coating is over 85μm, with salt spray resistance up to 1000 hours. The service life can reach more than 50 years in humid environments.
Stable Mechanical Performance: Tensile strength ranges from 370MPa to 500MPa. It features outstanding compression and impact resistance, suitable for structural support applications.
Easy Installation: Available for threaded connection, welding and clamp connection. Complete matching pipe fittings ensure efficient construction.
High Cost Performance: The cost is 1/3 to 1/2 of stainless steel pipe, and about 10%–30% higher than uncoated steel pipe.
Limitations: Not resistant to strong acid and strong alkali. The zinc coating is prone to peeling when the long-term working temperature exceeds 200℃.
5. Main Applications
Water Supply & Drainage: Fire water pipeline, domestic cold water pipeline and municipal water supply pipeline.
Gas Transportation: Low-pressure coal gas and natural gas pipeline.
Structural Engineering: Scaffolding, curtain wall support, highway guardrail and pipe pile.
HVAC & Power Industry: Heating pipeline, cable conduit and bracket for cable tray.
6. Quality Inspection Criteria
Appearance: Bright and uniform surface, no missing plating, bubbles, peeling or burrs.
Coating Adhesion: The zinc layer will not crack or fall off when a magnet is attached and removed quickly.
Standard Compliance: Outer diameter, wall thickness and linear weight meet national standards within allowable deviation range.
Odor: Qualified hot-dip galvanized products have no pungent acid smell, while cold galvanized pipes retain sour odor and are easy to rust.
7. Packaging & Delivery
Packaging: Bundled packing (50–100 pieces per bundle). Both ends are equipped with protective caps and wrapped with moisture-proof and anti-rust film.
Delivery: The delivery cycle is 5-7 days. Customized bulk orders and express delivery are acceptable.
