The Beckhoff EL6900 TwinSAFE Logic Terminal is a dedicated safety controller used in EtherCAT-based industrial automation systems. It acts as the central logic unit connecting safety input terminals (e.g., EL1904) and safety output terminals (e.g., EL2904), forming a complete distributed safety system architecture.
The EL6900 executes certified safety function blocks such as Boolean logic (AND/OR), safety interlocks, and muting functions to evaluate safety signals and generate safe outputs. It is widely used in machine safety applications requiring compliance with SIL 3 and PL e standards.
