Product Overview
This lockable paraffin block cabinet is the highest security level in our pathology storage line.
Paraffin blocks and slides are different — slides are copies cut from the block. If a slide is lost, you cut another from the block. But if the block is lost, the entire sample is gone. You can't re-cut what doesn't exist.
That's why paraffin block security is a higher priority than slide security.
This cabinet has locks on every drawer, independent keys per drawer. Ships fully assembled. 5 drawers hold approximately 3,990 paraffin blocks — suitable for mid-size pathology labs, forensic centers, and pharmaceutical toxicology labs.
Why Paraffin Blocks Need Higher Security Than Slides
Simple: slides can be re-cut. Blocks can't.
A slide is produced by cutting a paraffin block — one block yields dozens or hundreds of slides. If a slide goes missing, you cut another from the block. No big deal.
But if the block goes missing, the sample source is gone. The case data, the experiment data — it's broken.
In forensic cases, the block is the original evidence. In toxicology studies, the block is the raw data. In research archives, the block is material you'll need to re-run experiments on years later.
That's why we made this lockable paraffin block cabinet — it protects things that can't be replaced.
A Few Design Choices
① Independent lock per drawer
Cheap lockable cabinets use one master lock for everything. Open the master lock, all drawers open. Pointless. Ours has independent keys per drawer. One key, one drawer. Forensic centers like this — different cases get different keys, management stays clean.
② Deeper drawers, blocks fit
Paraffin blocks are thicker than slides — a cassette is 7mm minimum. Shallow drawers won't fit them. Our drawer depth is designed for paraffin blocks specifically. They go in with room to spare, lids don't get compressed against the blocks.
③ Stainless steel base, moisture barrier
Pathology labs are humid. Paraffin is sensitive to moisture — if it absorbs water, the wax melts and the tissue is ruined. Stainless steel base stops floor moisture from reaching the cabinet. This is the baseline.
④ 5 drawers, 1700mm total height
5 drawers is the most common spec for paraffin block cabinets. Total height 1700mm — standing reach without a stool. Too tall and you can't reach the top drawer. Too short and capacity suffers. 1700mm is what we settled on after talking to a dozen hospitals.
⑤ Fully assembled, locks pre-adjusted
Cabinet is fully assembled and locked at the factory before shipping. Lock cylinders and keys are all matched. Customer unpacks and uses immediately — no lock adjustment needed after delivery.

Who Uses This Cabinet
Forensic Labs — core customers. Blocks are original evidence. Can't lose them.
Pharmaceutical Toxicology Labs — raw experiment material, intellectual property.
University Research Labs — long-term archive, may need to re-run experiments years later.
Public Hospital Pathology Departments — also have the need, but lower priority than forensic and pharma. Mostly depends on budget.
FAQ
Q: Are keys the same for all drawers? A: No, each drawer has its own independent key. You decide how to distribute them after delivery.
Q: What if we lose the keys? A: Lock cylinders are standard parts. Any local locksmith can make duplicates. Or proactively make spare copies — we don't manage that, you keep control.
Q: How much more expensive vs. standard version? A: A few hundred RMB more — basically the cost of the lock set. Not a huge premium. Send us an inquiry and we'll quote the actual number.
Q: Can we customize? Change to electronic locks? A: Yes, we can discuss it. Key locks are the baseline. Electronic locks, code locks — we can assess. Send requirements and we'll quote.
