Expandable Tools Storage Rack for Maintenance Workshop – Starter Bay & Add-On Bay, Removable Beams, Modular Tool Storage
People running maintenance workshops and MRO storage know: tools, parts, consumables come in all shapes and sizes. One day you're storing this, the next day that. Shelving that's not enough is the norm.
Standard fixed shelving? Once you buy it, shelf heights are locked in. Large tools don't fit, small parts waste space. And when workshop layouts change—boom, product lines shift, shelving has to move too.
We designed this expandable tools storage rack with those pain points in mind. Snap-in connection, modular setup. Add units when you need them, return or relocate them when you don't. Start small, expand as you grow.
Starter Bay and Add-On Bay—How They Work
Starter Bay is one complete rack—4 upright posts, beams, shelf boards, all accessories. It's a standalone storage unit.
Add-On Bay attaches to a starter bay and only needs 2 new upright posts. The other 2 posts share with the adjacent starter bay. Here's why that matters:
First, it saves material. Shared posts don't need to be purchased twice. One add-on bay costs significantly less than one starter bay.
Second, it saves space. Shared posts mean a smaller footprint. Workshop space is precious—every square meter counts.
Third, it's easy to expand. Want to add more? Attach an add-on bay next to the starter bay, tap a few times with a rubber hammer, done. No new foundations, no calling installers.
Why Maintenance Workshops Choose This System?
Tool Organization by Category
Auto repair shops, body shops, equipment maintenance facilities—tools are countless. Wrenches, sockets, power tools, measuring instruments—everything needs its place.
Multi-tier adjustable design. Large tools on bottom tiers, small part bins on top. 50mm adjustment range, move shelf heights anytime. Storing engine parts today, electrical tools tomorrow? Tap beams out, move to new holes, done.
Quick Access, Higher Efficiency
Biggest headache in maintenance workshops? Spending half the day looking for tools. Tools thrown everywhere, can't find what you need when you need it.
This tool rack gives every tool a fixed spot. Shelf boards handle 200kg per tier—heavy tools go on the shelves, easy to grab, floor space freed up. Add side guards or nets to prevent tools from falling and hurting someone.
Relocate Workstations Without Major Hassle
Production line adjustments, equipment relocation—workstation layouts change constantly. Traditional bolted shelving? Tear it down and rebuild, wastes time and energy.
Tool-free shelving? The shift supervisor can have workers set it up. No need to stop production. Need extra units in the afternoon? They're ready for use the next day. For maintenance work, set up temporary shelving for parts, then take it down and move it later. No space wasted, no money wasted.
MRO Storage Preferred Choice
Factory MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) storage rooms—parts, consumables, tools organized by category. Heavy stuff on bottom, lighter items on top, easy access.
MRO inventory changes constantly. One month you stock these parts, next month maybe different ones. Adjustable heights mean different-sized part bins all find their spot. No need to swap out racks for one type of part.

Where It Works
Auto repair shops and body shops: Countless tools, parts, consumables. Adjustable heights work perfectly. Heavy stuff on bottom, light stuff on top, easy access.
Equipment maintenance rooms: MRO storage—parts, tools organized by category. Adjustable heights mean different-sized part bins all find their spot.
Factory workshops: Production line adjustments, equipment relocation—workstation layouts change often. Tool-free shelving, workers can install themselves.
School training rooms: Tools, teaching aids, consumables storage. Line them up back-to-back or side-by-side. Just make sure aisles are wide enough.
Common Questions
Q: How do I choose the number of starter bays vs. add-on bays?
A: Depends on your workshop space and expected growth. When starting out, 2-3 starter bays work fine. As tool types increase, add add-on bays next to them. One starter bay can connect to 4-5 add-on bays maximum. Beyond that, it's better to plan a new section.
Q: Do add-on bays have the same load capacity as starter bays?
A: Yes. Add-on bays use the same upright posts, beams, and shelf boards as starter bays. Load capacity is identical. The only difference is fewer upright posts, which is why they cost less.
Q: Can I buy just add-on bays?
A: No. Add-on bays must attach to starter bays—they won't stand alone. For a new workshop, you need at least one starter bay.
Q: Does removing beams affect stability?
A: No. Removing beams only adjusts shelf spacing. As long as the upright posts stay in place, the shelving remains stable.
Q: How many units can I line up side-by-side?
A: Theoretically unlimited. In practice, we recommend grouping every 10 units as one block with aisles between blocks for easier access. There's no limit on back-to-back rows—add cross-bracing in between.
Q: How long does installation take?
A: One starter bay, two people, about 20 minutes. Add-on bays are faster—fewer posts, about 10 minutes per unit. Only need a rubber hammer—no drill or wrench needed.

Starter and add-on bays have similar loading volumes. For 2000×2000×600mm units: 20GP fits ~80 units, 40GP fits ~170 units, 40HQ fits ~200 units. We'll calculate exact loading for your order.
