Steel Pipe & Tube & Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Pipe Q235B, Q345B, S275J0, A36
1. Product Definition
Hot-dip galvanized steel pipe is an anti-corrosion steel pipe with a composite coating of "zinc-iron alloy layer + pure zinc layer" formed by metallurgical reaction. It is produced by degreasing, pickling, fluxing, drying the steel pipe, and then immersing it in molten zinc liquid at 440–460℃. It combines high-strength matrix and long-term anti-corrosion ability, and is widely used in low-pressure fluid transportation, building structures, municipal engineering and other scenarios.
2. Specification Classification
Nominal Diameter (DN): DN15–DN600 (1/2"–24"), in line with GB/T 3091-2024
Outer Diameter: 21.3–610mm (e.g., DN25 = 33.7mm), ensuring fitting interchangeability
Wall Thickness: 2.0–4.5mm (ordinary/thickened grade), matching pressure-bearing requirements of different scenarios
Zinc Coating Weight/Thickness: ≥340g/㎡ (DN≤100); ≥410g/㎡ (DN>100), corresponding to thickness ≥50–80μm; high zinc coating option ≥500g/㎡ (≈70μm)
Length: Fixed length of 6m, customizable from 3–12m according to customer requirements
Test Pressure: DN10.2–168.3mm: 3MPa; DN177.8–323.9mm: 5MPa, verifying sealing and pressure-bearing capacity
3. Main Material Grades
Q235B, Q345B, S275J0, A36, in line with GB/T 700, EN 10025, adapting to different strength requirements
4. Implementation Standards
Domestic Standard: GB/T 3091-2024 (Low-pressure Fluid Transportation Steel Pipes), mainstream in engineering with clear requirements for dimensions and zinc coating
American Standard: ASTM A53, for general fluid and structural support, wall thickness grades Sch.40/Sch.80, material Gr.A/B
European Standard: EN 10255, for non-pressure fluid transportation, focusing on welding and thread processing adaptability
British Standard: BS 1387-1985, for traditional water supply and drainage projects, still used in some regions and gradually replaced by EN
Enterprise Standard/Agreement: Can be implemented in accordance with customer technical agreements
5. Production Process & Anti-corrosion Principle
5.1 Production Process
Degreasing → Pickling (removing oxide scale) → Fluxing (ammonium chloride/zinc chloride solution) → Drying → Hot-dip galvanizing (450℃±5℃, 1–2 minutes) → Cooling → Passivation → Quality Inspection
5.2 Anti-corrosion Mechanism
The zinc coating is metallurgically bonded with the matrix, isolating corrosive media through sacrificial anode protection. The service life is 10–15 years outdoors and 5–8 years in humid/underground environments.
6. Appearance and Surface Quality
Coating: Continuous and uniform, no missing plating, cracks or peeling; slight zinc nodules/zinc flowers (diameter ≤1mm) are allowed
Surface: Smooth after galvanizing, free of obvious defects affecting corrosion resistance
End Face: Flat, free of burrs and sundries, ensuring convenient installation
7. Quality Inspection & Acceptance
Appearance Inspection: Check coating uniformity and surface defects according to standards
Zinc Coating Detection:
Magnetic Thickness Gauge: Take 4–6 points evenly, average thickness ≥50–80μm
Copper Sulfate Test: Immerse continuously for 5 times (1 minute each time), no red exposure
Mechanical Properties: For Q235B, yield strength ≥235MPa, tensile strength 375–500MPa
Dimension Tolerance: Outer diameter ±0.5mm, wall thickness deviation in line with standard requirements
8. Main Applications
Construction Engineering: Indoor and outdoor water supply and drainage, fire sprinkler systems, heating and ventilation circulation pipes
Municipal & Industrial: Urban gas transportation, agricultural irrigation, chemical corrosive medium transportation
Special Purposes: Power and communication threading protection, steel structure support, temporary scaffolding
9. Packaging, Marking and Transportation
Packaging: Wooden pallet bundling, covered with plastic film inside, pipe ends plugged; small-caliber pipes can be coil-packaged, each bundle firmly bound
Marking: Spraying or hanging tags: Material grade, specification, length, zinc coating weight, manufacturer, production date
Transportation: Road, rail and sea transportation; rain-proof, sun-proof and collision-proof; direct binding with steel wire ropes is prohibited
Storage: Store in a dry and ventilated warehouse, layered with wood, away from acid-base corrosive media; avoid long-term humidity to prevent white rust
10. Delivery & After-sales Service
Delivery Time: Spot supply for conventional specifications; customized specifications start from 5–7 days (subject to order quantity)
Quality Assurance: Provide quality certificate, including material, specification, zinc coating, mechanical properties and other data; support third-party testing (SGS/TUV)
After-sales Service: Replacement for transportation damage, technical support for installation and selection, response to quality issues within 15 days
