Cast iron flap gates are anti-backflow water conservancy equipment composed of four parts: valve seat, valve plate, sealing ring, and hinge. They are applied to pipelines and drainage outlets for one-way water flow. Cast iron flap gates generally have a circular or square shape and mostly use side-opening drainage. They are suitable for drainage outlets of river water, sea water, domestic and industrial sewage. They are mostly used in water conservancy systems (i.e., sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, pumping stations, etc.), municipal sewage treatment plants, and urban flood prevention and drainage.
Installation and use of flap gates
1. Flap gates can be installed by flange connection, pre-embedded, or permanently inserted.
2. When using a weighted flap gate, if the forward hydraulic force is insufficient to open the gate leaf, counterweight devices of different weights can be set according to the installation location requirements.
3. During the use of a floating box flap gate, the specific gravity of the gate leaf can be changed by injecting or draining water into or from the sealed cavity of the gate leaf to achieve the opening effect.
4. When installing multiple flap gates, if separate installation is required due to lifting conditions, attention should be paid to marking. Since the connection between the gate seat and the gate leaf of each flap gate is a paired match, they cannot be interchanged.
5. The included angle a between the installation axis of the wall-penetrating pipe and the horizontal direction should be greater than or equal to zero degrees.
6. After the flap gate is installed, it is normal for there to be a gap of about 3mm between the gate seat and the gate leaf. When the gate leaf bears a certain reverse pressure, the gap will decrease or even disappear.
Models of cast iron flap gates
Common small flap gates: DN200, DN400, DN500.
Medium-sized flap gates: DN500, DN600, DN700, DN800.
In special cases, larger types of cast iron flap gates are needed, such as DN1000, DN1200, DN1500, etc.
