Product Spotlights
A gear coupling is a mechanical component used to connect two shafts and transmit torque. Power transmission is achieved through the meshing of internal and external gears. It has the ability to compensate for axial, radial, and angular misalignments and is widely used in heavy-load, low-speed, or high-speed transmission scenarios.
Core Features and Advantages
High Load Capacity: Drum-gear couplings offer approximately 15%–20% higher load capacity than spur gear couplings of the same size, suitable for high torque transmission requirements.
Good Displacement Compensation Performance: Angular compensation can reach ±1.5° or even higher, with special designs reaching over 3°; radial and axial compensation capabilities are also available, adapting to installation errors and operational deformation.
High-Efficiency Transmission: Transmission efficiency reaches up to 99.7%, reducing energy loss and suitable for long-term continuous operation.
Compact and Durable Structure: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel and carburized and quenched, it possesses high wear resistance and a long maintenance cycle.
Main Types
Spur Gear Couplings: Simple in structure, but with limited angular displacement compensation capability (typically only ±0.5°), they have been gradually replaced by drum-gear couplings.
Drum-shaped gear couplings: The external teeth have a spherical design, significantly improving tooth surface contact conditions, avoiding stress concentration, and extending service life. Common models include:
CLZ type: Suitable for heavy-duty applications involving intermediate shaft connections;
GCLD type: Specifically designed for motor shaft extension connections, with a compact structure;
WGT type: With an intermediate connecting pipe, suitable for long-distance transmission.
Applications: Low-speed, heavy-duty transmission in metallurgy, mining, and hoisting and transportation equipment; Shaft connections in industrial equipment such as petrochemicals and general machinery; High-precision equipment such as gas turbines and high-speed train power systems, where high-speed transmission can be achieved after dynamic balancing.
Selection Recommendations
When selecting a coupling, the following factors should be considered:
Transmitted torque;
Operating speed;
Relative displacement between the two shafts (axial, radial, angular);
Operating environment (temperature, corrosiveness, sealing requirements);
Cost and ease of maintenance.
To ensure stable operation, the coupling must operate under good lubrication and sealing conditions. Lithium-based grease is recommended, and the wear of the gear teeth should be checked regularly.
